It was cancelled because they have a debit ceiling to try and sort out (which if they dont the whole world is in for a shit load of pain), and just like England Aus is not high on the list of important things at this moment in time G7 Yes Aus NO

The appointment in Sydney was supposed to be a Quad meeting with the Australian PM, along with the Japanese and Indian leaders. He just met him at the G7 summit in Japan instead, as he had more pressing domestic issues to deal with. Not sure where Bolty is getting his news, but suspect it's of a GBNews ilk.

Australia is rich in mineral deposits, particularly those relevant to cars. Considering china has a lot of such minerals, then it would be folly for any major nation not to be overly bothered about the place.

It is also strategically important given China's military expansionism in the pacific.

I'm sure the relevant people from the US etc will be doing their bit.

Chile has got 41 % of the worlds know supply (Aus 25%)  Argentina 10% Canada and the US both around 3% , so just on those ( which are very local compared to Aus) they have nearly 57% access to world supply of Lithium on their door steps.
