I agree - he's off at the end of the season anyway so he could just sit there and sulk. Never had a problem with Wheater apart from his injury record.

I actually starting to like the look of Derik in, dare I say it, the Campo role. If he's a bit stronger in the tackle, he could do a good job there. Unfortunately, that leaves Dervite playing centre half with Holding as we haven't a hope in hell of anyone wanting to sign him in summer

Derik looks like a player on an upward curve, with all the trouble around the club and with him having to settle in, think he's done very well and young enough to develop and become a top player.

Said to the lad I sit next to a good few weeks back that Derik would be a good 'Campo', if we can sort out two half decent centre halves to play behind him. Reads the game well, intercepts and more likely to pass to one of his own men than anyone else of ours

He's hardly an unknown though is he. I doubt he'd even need scouting by most clubs - they'll know him inside and out. If it were Rob Holding or someone it would be different.

 

Think of it this way. What if we wanted to play him but he refused because we couldn't pay him his extra ten grand. Everyone would be calling him a cunt. He can't win. Fair play to him I say.

I'm pretty sure anyone who is looking at signing Wheater will already have an idea about him. These next three games playing for a relegated team will show next to fuck all. Just comes across as a decent bloke. He took a paycut after relegation from the premiership if I remember right.
