ianofcleveleys Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Madine played like he knew there's competition for places and had to step up. Looked good today till he tweaked groin late in first half, held ball up well and got about the pitch better. Having said that, Proctor also looked a handful of a different sort, quicker, more mobile and technically pretty good. Ameobi showed some nifty touches but Anderson was less involved when he had to move back to accommodate him. Anderson needs to stay right on their centre backs, when he was there they were shitting themselves. Him in and Woolery out looks good business, Anderson's a far more talented player and can play with back to goal Quote
Blondi Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 (edited) heard them say there were 650 southend fans ? if thats true thats not a bad following Took this pic from the WSU. Looked more Southend fans than Fleetwood to me. Decent effort.(Seriously, the guy bottom right, he just read his newspaper all the way through the 1st half) Edited September 3, 2016 by Blondi Quote
captainmed Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Would say 500 tops but that's a fantastic effort. At least 700. Fair play to them. Loads of young dressers. Our stewards are wankers. Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Really enjoyed that, best I've seen us in ages! Thought the new lads all looked good, Henry probably wasn't quite ready but you can see the quality. Think we have enough going forward now with a good transfer window under our belt. I don't think we have any prolific scorers unless Clough gets going again but we should be able to get 5 or 6 chipping in with double figures over the course of the season (Clough, Madine, Proctor, Anderson, Henry & Ameobi) Thought Vela was average at best but think he has a part to play this season Exciting times ahead Quote
radcliffe white Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 At least 700. Fair play to them. Loads of young dressers. Our stewards are wankers. 625 official figure very very good for s team out of form and 250 less what we took to Charlton last week Quote
SatanGreavsie Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Th'East Midlands Whites are just back and are drinking with cautious optimism (heavily) Quote
stevieb Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Needing a drinking glove on September 3rd is fucking mental. Quote

Just a minor worry about our cutting edge in the final third, but in Parky we trust! Edited September 3, 2016 by Blondi Quote

Shrimper Mate of mine has been excited about it for weeks Don't think they'd been to the Macron before He's from Stockport but messaged me from the beehive saying loads of their lot were in flip flops and shorts as it was glorious when they left Essex Oh and our stewards are dicks; he said the kick off was when they waded in cos they were stood in the aisles FFS Edited September 3, 2016 by jules_darby Quote
onlyoneawalker Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Enjoyed it very much new lads have undoubtedly improved the squad. Issues - despite me saying for at lest 12 month moxey is a player and will come good he's been v disappointing and trotter was shite today Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I couldn't make today unfortunately, but after reading the above I'm really looking forward to next Saturday and the season ahead. It seems like we now have plenty of options for Parky, thanks to what looks like a really successful transfer window. One game at time though but it's just a matter of time before someone gets a right good tonking. Quote
MancWanderer Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Our stewards are wankers. Aye, and bears shit in the woods. Not a dig at you mate, it's just so obvious I'm surprised that there haven't been a shed load of official complaints Quote
bolton va va Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Maybe we could have tested/roughed up their iffy keeper a bit more but nine times out of ten we'd have won that game. All the new lads impressed & will only get better as they settle in. ( might be worth a go to put one of them on the wing sometimes instead of relying on the full backs to give us width ) Proctor did fine when he came on & will also probably get better, but on current form, Madine is well ahead of him. Southend's early goal ( i thought it was a good goal ) meant they could defend deep in numbers & made it hard work for us, but if we score early & force a team to open up, i think we could give someone a pasting. Still very optimistic. Quote
Salford Trotter Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 It could've and should've been 4 or 5 today but i'll settle for a point. MK Dons next week will be a different proposition completely Quote

MancWanderer Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Bought a ticket and drove today First time in a long time Past couple of years I've needed 4/5 pints of Guinness in Scotts beforehand to see me through the shite served up on the pitch Liked what I saw. That said, get the fucking trains back on so that I can get back on the ale Quote
Marc505 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 We just didnt score. Otherwise we're mint. Seriously I'm going Spain next sumner and banging the wanderers flag out. After winning the cunt. Quote
frank_spencer Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 my biggest concern is buxton. thats the second goal i can recall where he was nowhere to be seen at the back post. spearing was/is just immense Buxton had his man (or at least a man) and had him blocked off from getting to the ball. their lad had about 10yds free who ever was supposed to have their goal scorer will have got a right rollocking Quote
jules_darby Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Buxton had his man (or at least a man) and had him blocked off from getting to the ball. their lad had about 10yds free who ever was supposed to have their goal scorer will have got a right rollocking Kyprianou played left mid for them, so it was likely either Vela's man and he was AWOL or Buxton's man and he was pulled inside (because someone else didn't have a man or from a lack of concentration) I'm fucked if I know which though Actually, I thought Kyprianou was a tidy player. One to watch him IMO Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 My biggest concern is Moxey. why the hell doesn't he try marking a player instead of standing 3yds away, he lets the cross come over every time. Surely Parkinson can see he,s a liability Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Vela wasn't switched on and let their lad run unnoticed into the freedom of that side of the box. If we can get out of the habit of starting slow at home, against teams who no doubt think about grabbing something to defend early doors we'll be fine. Quote
superkev Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Ameobi should've come on at least 15 mins earlier. Should've been for trotter Quote
Casino Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Back four reckon it was vela Dunno if it was him but it sure as fcuk wasn't money's fault Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Next game I'd go with one from Vela or Trotter to sit in front of the back 4 with Spearing then play the three new lads Anderson, Henry & Ameobi behind Proctor up top Bloody decent side that for this level Happy enough with our back 4, look a little shaken a couple of times but regained composure Quote
superkev Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Is spearing not suspended. He must have 5 bookings by now Quote
