That's taken a long time to decide. Other options dried up ? The two we have now are capable, if not quite at the Jussi/Al Habsi level. So an opportunity to move on to real weak spots Quote

I know his form dropped a bit, but I do also think there was a bit of over-exaggeration because we all thought he was going so it made us feel better to say he’s shit anyway. An in-form Baxter, that isn’t being asked to play 100% Evatt-ball, is one of the best keepers in this league and I’d say comfortably good enough for the Championship should we manage to make the step up whilst he’s still with us. Also one less thing for SS to be trying to resolve come summer, when he’ll clearly already have plenty on his plate. Quote
Whitestar Posted March 17 Posted March 17 If i was the manager and a player expressed a desire to leave or made it quite clear they wouldn't be staying i wouldn't try to keep them. I used to be in a job where there was only me doing it, the organisation rellied on me and i knew it and they knew it, after a while i wasn't happy with the way things were going and in a selfish footballer way i was making these feelings known, apart from a few colleagues saying the usual niceties did the organisation do anything about improving terms, conditions etc????? Did they F***. Think that work gets contracted out now 🤷 Quote
Popular Post gonzo Posted March 17 Popular Post Posted March 17 I'd hazard a guess the reason he may have been stalling was his old manager. Quote
Popular Post desperado Posted March 17 Popular Post Posted March 17 Love this bit from him: “I love it at this football club. I absolutely love it here. I think me being put on the bench was a selection issue, towards the end of Ian Evatt's reign. “But it was nothing to do with a contract. I absolutely love it here. I love living up here. “I bought a house up here. I love this area. I love playing in front of these supporters. “Today was, like I say, the first five minutes. It was special being back on that pitch. Although I played for Hull City in the Championship, it's not like playing here. “The supporters are brilliant. Last season was the most enjoyable season I've ever had in football. I loved every second of it, at least until the last game. “I love it here. I want to be here. And I want everyone to know that.” Quote

bwfc4ife Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Personally i'd be delighted if we can get him signed up again. Southwood was a refreshing change at the end of the Evatt tenure but for me, Baxter is by far the better keeper, bigger and more commanding of his area. Quote
