We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Baxter has indicated he wants to stay beyond this season. Great news. Hope we get this sorted.

That's taken a long time to decide. Other options dried up ?

The two we have now are capable, if not quite at the Jussi/Al Habsi level.

So an opportunity to move on to real weak spots

This would be great news! I know his form dropped a bit, but I do also think there was a bit of over-exaggeration because we all thought he was going so it made us feel better to say he’s shit anyway.

An in-form Baxter, that isn’t being asked to play 100% Evatt-ball, is one of the best keepers in this league and I’d say comfortably good enough for the Championship should we manage to make the step up whilst he’s still with us.

Also one less thing for SS to be trying to resolve come summer, when he’ll clearly already have plenty on his plate.

If i was the manager and a player expressed a desire to leave or made it quite clear they wouldn't be staying i wouldn't try to keep them.

I used to be in a job where there was only me doing it, the organisation rellied on me and i knew it and they knew it, after a while i wasn't happy with the way things were going and in a selfish footballer way i was making these feelings known, apart from a few colleagues saying the usual niceties did the organisation do anything about improving terms, conditions etc?????

Did they F***.

Think that work gets contracted out now 🤷

I've been quite happy with Southwood

Baxter reminded us how good he can be on Saturday

More then happy with both being here next season knowing we have a more then adequate back up on the bench whoever it might be

BAXTERRRR at the backkk

(to be rejuvenated for our play off win this year - swap Paris for Morley and Jerome for Adeboyejo)

Maybe he had no intention of staying while Evatt was here but now he likes what he sees with SS.

Personally i'd be delighted if we can get him signed up again. Southwood was a refreshing change at the end of the Evatt tenure but for me, Baxter is by far the better keeper, bigger and more commanding of his area.

Nah everyone loved evatt. He’s a footballing genius who we just didn’t understand.

yeah, played for Marseille

Hope we can recruit more from the Champ this year, Evatt relied on hidden gems from L1. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of Champ clubs with aspiring Prem ambitions who will release decent established players, not all soft arses on mega money. If we can pick these up for nothing and structure a deal with promotion bonuses, many will be attracted to playing for Bolton

Apart from Bradley and Trafford recently and probably that lad that is at Fulham now ( can't think of his name) was on loan from Everton, a few seasons back.

When were you impressed by anything we had on loan from a higher division in the last 10 years???

Fossey, Maghoma, Dapo, Declan John

Jackson from Huddersfield was a solid signing in L2 too.
