Well the fact you’ve never heard of any of them says more about you than the players. The best part for Huddersfield is that these are all proven players courted by teams above and all of them on frees. Low at 22 is already a full Wales international and at 6’ 5” would have been a great partner for Forino and Roughan also at 22 has already shown enormous potential at Lincoln, played every game last year and no history of injury. If you haven’t heard of Ledson then that’s your problem too, well proven at a higher level. As I say, all signed on frees whilst we’re looking at paying significant amounts for an unproven Hull full back who lowly Hull don’t consider good enough for them and similarly a potential half a million for a midfielder who they also don’t want. We did this last year and whilst we have to trust Schu and Fergal to get things right it does worry me that we’re being outcompeted already by teams like Huddersfield, decent as they are they aren’t bigger than us.

I'd struggle to name 5 players from our league who don't play for us.

Don’t let it worry you too much.

Life’s too short.

Doesn’t worry me, just confused myself thinking this was a comments board, should have realised some get upset at sensible posts. 😁

SS is going to need more than one window to put this right were hamstrung by most of the squad being under contract and not good enough or croaks

Sensible in that you make a good case for them, and I’ve no doubt that you actually do have a better knowledge of other players in this league than most (the only players I can remember from last season are the 2 Brum midfielders from Japan/South Korea and the lad up front for Crawley who based on what I saw in that one game at home was the best player in the league - I don’t know any of their names).

However, the bit that people are probably taking a slight issue with is: 1) I’ve no doubt that the club were aware of these players and would have got at least one of them if they’d have wanted to; and 2) you could probably make a similar case for another 10-15 players and who’s to say we won’t end up with some of them? These just happen to be 3 of the first that have been signed up.

The only thing I know about any is from a PNE mate (season ticket holder) who described Ledson as “meh”. Bit of a nothing player, alright but not in the slightest bit arsed that he’d left.

The bulk of my 5 would be ex wanderers anyway

He can bring in enough players before September  to transform the team

We have plenty players good enough to be top end of this league with the right additions

I do appreciate some like to wallow in negativity though

Even last years car crash wouldve been transformed by Traf and Bradley

please elaborate on this

With them two, we make the playoffs

We shouldve made the play off with what we had and where we were post, say, Shrewsbury

Im not checking, but round there, whenever it was we were 8 from second with 2 games before second played again

We have some good players, just not in all the right places

Rioch didnt change the whole team, ffs

Anyway, we will see how it goes but my 10 quid bet at evens has us in the top 6 rather than not

The lad who was up front for Crawley has just joined MK Dons for a rumoured half a mill, he was a little fucker that day had us on toast.

Collins to MK dons doing the rounds.

Never in a million years.

Good player from what I saw (not just against us).  MK Dons signed Mendez Laing from Derby too - probably not the last ex Derby/Rotherham player to end up there with Paul Warne.

SS doesn’t have a magic wand   that’s going to transform tutu , Dempsey , farino , Gomes , , toal , forester from constantly being in and out with injuries  and victor and Morley long term

we will have 7 or 8 with the usual injuries you pick up on the way unavailable all through the season that’s been a constant and not changing next season .

As for traff and Bradley yep let’s go and get two players that 12 months later are top prem players on loan good luck with that it was a one off to get them in league one

then we have a change in formation next season round pegs in square holes limited squad spaces and budget

it’s going to take more than one window to sort the mess out just need to get your head round it and out of the sand we’re in transition

Very good points Eddie and you may be dead right which is why we have to trust SS and Fergal to recruit exactly the right players for them, what we think or don’t is totally  irrelevant but for me I think those four signings have just pushed Huddersfield to the top of the tree next season. It’s just my view which is what this forums for and if people disagree that’s absolutely fine but I’d just hope they’d do it without making smarty arse comments.

You see I agree with Casino in that I believe we have enough good players now to form the basis of the team and just need additions in the areas we’re weak. We all know what they are and Schu’s already fixed one of them. I’m not having that we need a big clear out or a massive transition, we just need to fill the four or five positions we’re weak in and if we do that, as I expect us to, we’ll be nailed on top six at the least.

I,d say we will turn out on the first game with 6 possibly 5 new faces.    I reckon that's the minimum number of starters needed and then a couple of 'fillers' who you hope may hit form for a prolonged spell during the season.

And surely we can get shut of that lad from peterbro (that good I can't even remember his name) .

Let's trust ss, sharkey and Co to get this right.

I agree with your overall point, but I wonder if it will take more than Dalby to "fix" the height/strength/heading problem up front.  I'm not expecting us to turn into Wrexham, but if 2 of their centre forwards got injured, they replaced them with 2 equally physical CFs from the bench.  Dalby could get injured in September, and that leaves us weak again, and even if fit he's not playing 98 minutes every game.  We need our strength (and pace) to increase generally, where if one gets injured we don't suddenly revert to type.

I'm not saying we should be signing 3 new strikers, but it may be a bit early to say we've fixed any issues, we've just taken a step in the right direction hopefully.

Maybe we'll have less injuries due to the way they train and not having players playing when they're injured. Maybe.

I genuinely think so. Certainly I hope so. Every club will get injuries but we've specialised in it.

Possibly we recruit players with a tendency, but I do think we've been breaking people as well.

We'll know where we're at by the first international break in Sept, a week or so after the window's closed and any last minute outs, in and loans have been boxed off.

The sense is that Fergal, SS and Jimmy have, between them, a sound idea of what they want, some good contacts and, even if the budget isn't as extravagant as before, we will still get five or six of the right types, in the right places, to have us in the top six mix come Spring

We have never had as many 'injuries' as we had in the last 10 games
