He’s worse

Each to their own and all that. I think he could be an asset. Some of the dross we have seen in the last 15 years and a lad that scored 9/10 goals isn’t even close.

Two others i remember us being linked to countless times were

Owen Hargreaves

Andrew Johnson

We only signed Anelka because we missed out on Johnson who went to Everton instead

How about Malik Wilkes released by Wednesday, he has all those qualities and can score a goal too?

Also, haven't Huddersfield released Josh Koroma? Think he's a left sided player, always thought he looked likely when I've seen him.

Back to Dalby, he looks like he could be useful. Shown potential and then stalled. A bit like Matheson, but without the injury worries - so hopefully works out better than that.

In terms of ability:

Can he trap a bag of cement? If so, better than our other forwards

Can he attack the ball instead of randomly barging into the player? If so, better than McAtee

Does he have feet and a head that he can use? Better than our current forwards

Dalby is way ahead of Mattheson ever was in terms of games and development

he's 25 and in the last 4 years played 151 games and scored 31 goals

he's ready, not raw and untested

Going by some comments on here we dodged a bullet by missing out on signing McAtee to you. I know he came to us for talks and was shown around, and that we both offered exactly the same contract, so it was a straight choice for him. That came from our Humphry Kerr who is a director.  I'll be honest I barely noticed he was on the pitch when we played you and he didn't impress.

He smashed us when he played for Grimsby mind.

Xavier Simmons defensive midfielder now being linked from Hull.

Presume he played alongside Morley first half of last season at Wycombe. On that basis, looks a good move

Yeah, wasn't making the direct comparison - just the fact that he made a big move early, and has had to build back from that. Matheson was unable to due to injury

Agreed on the attacking the ball instead of the player bit, but a bit harsh re the feet.

There is every chance Dalby won't be as good as Collins especially with his feet, very unlikely to be as creative, and I guarantee he won't be as comfortable taking the ball on his left foot, Collins is one of very few 2 footed players that I've seen in this league.

But that's not why SS has signed a 6 foot 3 player who can head a ball with purpose and direction.

Don’t think he did, I believe he was signed as the replacement for Morley when he came back here.

Can't disagree with that, I don't see how Parky possibly fits McAtee into his style of play (ie a striker that can't head a ball), so its a mystery why he was after him in the first place.  I thought we were getting a centre forward type when he signed but whatever he is he isn't that.  But we've had far worse, he scored some good goals, has a positive attitude and is a good team player.

To be fair, in both our 0-0 games I'm not sure anyone stood out so I'll cut him some slack in those games, nobody was scoring or standing out in either of our 0-0 bore fests, those games were very L1.

Think a lot of stick comes McAtees way because of the piss poor way he carries himself.

Socks rolled down, shirt out, blaming every fucker every time something goes wrong.

He just looks like a Billy Big Bollocks. The type you see in Sunday teams, body checking folk and giving loads out.

Trouble is when you're like that, you've got to be able to back it up.

Do it and the fans will love you. But don't and you've had it.

You can be limited and still get on ok in this division as long as you put a shift in and look professional.

I think with a bit of coaching and man management there could be a player in him.

Looks a nightmare to coach but he's the type where you earn your coin.
