But isn't that one of the reasons we have a forum, for folk like us to have discussions about them. There's never a conclusion at the end where we say "so that's decided then, x player is quality and y player is crap". There's no answer, all opinions are valid and add to the discussion, as long as its based on watching a player fairly regularly. I prefer player y. Quote

Clearly time will tell with regards to how SS sees his squad, but he would appear to be more his type than the fannies are. 😂 we’re just going to have the usual back and forth on him. I don’t see how having less fannies on the pitch means he can now turn less like a ship and accelerate/run faster over 5-10 yards - it’s just natural physical limitations. His fitness is great, his mental attitude is brilliant, but he’s physically limited to be a ‘dynamic’ centre mid. As for suddenly getting better at tackling with less fannies on the pitch - unless those coming in are going to teach him how to tackle then again, it seems a stretch to me! But I’ll agree to disagree to save the thread from going over old ground. It really will be interesting to see what SS does with him. Quote

Physically he has bulked up. I would expect him to be relieved of his captaincy next season and if we improve in his position, he will slide down the pecking order. We'll see? The difference with Thommo is his age, still plenty of time to keep improving. He see’s the passes and can’t quite execute it. Against Blackpool at home, it was an almost stevie G like performance until he ran out steam and had to go off. He literally dragged us back into that game. Sheehans good on the ball in little pockets and turns well but apart from that offers very little else. Zero physicality and I can’t remember the last time he played a defence splitting pass. Epitome of sideways and backwards Quote

But I’ll agree to disagree to save the thread from going over old ground. It really will be interesting to see what SS does with him. There are different ideas of being dynamic. He isn't the most agile, but is perfectly happy to drive forward, and look to move the ball quickly. Has the odd thundertwatt on him. Scored more goals than any other midfielder last season. If SS wants width, and a more direct approach, and moving the ball faster, then that will suit him more. Who knows, he may end up going- it depends upon what SS sees, but listening to how the manager is looking to change the style, and reduce the squad, then some more are likely to go. Morley, Sheehan, Randall, and to an extent Lolos all fit a similar model, and the only one entering the final year of his contract is Sheehan. He's the oldest, can't tackle a wet tissue, and therefore, from a pragmatic point of view, would be the easy one to move on. Not sure anyone actually expected Collins to go- especially to a 4th division club- but it is clear that some of the soft fannies are going to be cleared out. Quote

We've not had many clubs come in for our players, but only Tomo was one, and to a higher league team. Morley was taken on loan, by a better team than us and performed well. Meanwhile, Sheehan shits out, increasingly plays like a crab, and complains to fans about being kicked. He simply goes missing too often, especially against better teams, which says a lot. I'd drive him myself, but I'm not loading my van with cotton wool before we set off. Quote
Ryan Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 Just watched this highlights video of N'Mai from last season. Obviously easy to say from a video only showing the good bits but I really hope we sign him, or at least someone similar. I've missed watching someone like this play for us. Dynamic, quick, exciting etc. Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 I wouldn't ever claim Sheehan's a strong tackler but he does get routinely clattered by the opposition and from what I can tell mostly just gets on with it Quote

He's still under contract to the club and they are still paying him he should go out do all he can. Edited June 21, 2025 by Dr. Feelgood Quote

He would have the PFA in straightaway. Players up and down the land who have been told they are not getting a new contract and have had offers from other clubs will say they have this knock etc. If that player was to play ang got a bad injury Bang would go any offer from a new club and potentially three years wages at say 5k a week. Moaning to fans about it after the game is a bad look though. It's not going to get any easier for him, and he's not going to suddenly learn to deal with it. Quote
Popular Post ianofcleveleys Posted June 21, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 21, 2025 I think GT might do better in a side where more are on the same page in terms of effort and application, rather than one where he's charging around trying to shake a team of wet farts into some sort of action. If SS wants the team to play quicker and a bit more direct, he's capable of responding to that and going with it. In short, he's one of SS's lesser concerns Quote

No idea how good he is at motivating and inspiring his team mates - a lot to learn on last season's evidence but that says as much about them than him. I suspect he was chosen because he did put a shift in. Quote

But also like Dion, refs were increasingly getting wise to him and awarding them less as last season progressed. Can’t say I’ve ever seen Sheehan get properly clattered although he does a half decent Tom Daley impression from time to time. Quote

In all honesty if you are playing dead rubbers at the back end of the season you are all ready planning for next season Out of contract players would not figure high in the managers thoughts. Think you are seeing issues where really none lay......As someone attending games at the backend of the season do you really want to watch players who have no future in the club stroll around and not put a shift in.....Or do you want to see two or three kids thrown in and run all day trying 100% Edited June 22, 2025 by masi 51 Quote
