You're not wrong Sluffy 😅 I think it's safe to say that we must still be after a winger or two, I think the only winger we've signed to actually play on the wing is Dong. But we'll have to wait and see.

And Forss too. We all hoped he was an upgrade at no.10, and he looked it against Wigan and taking into account his Boro stats. But he wasn't, and that false hope also contributed to McAtee not being considered a starter, the better player had been replaced by an inferior one (IMO). McAtee also had 1 or 2 injuries, like everyone, but I can't recall how long for or when.

His stats (if we are taking notice of them) from the year before seemed to be largely ignored, when he started 31 and scored 11, 1 less than top scorer Collins (who started 36) who we sold for a big fee. Then he was replaced, which is fine, but it wasn't like he'd had a bad season, and he still hasn't.

He isn't what we'd want at championship level, but that's where we're at currently, probably in every department.

There is no doubt that,ike every other player we have, has some ability.

That pass was excellent, as we're some of his finishes a couple of years back.

Unfortunately, I think remembering the odd specific moment like this is somewhat indicative of the lad's lack of consistency, and regularity in the side.

Simply can't see that changing, particularly as we are now a division higher.

Time will tell.

If the ACD fee is really only £5m we really do just have to match that, mortgage the next window on it as well if you have to.

I just don't see how we lose money at that price in the current market.

He'd by c £3m per year based on:

£5m fee amortised over a 4 year contract

£30k pw including all bonuses plus Employers NI.

They've already rejected £5m so we're talking north of that. But I agree I'd rate him as being worth more too. It's an impossible call without knowing what's in the pot though - he'll be worth a lot less if we get relegated with 25 points because Sam Dalby is our only striker.

Surprised in the article it talks about the possibility of Rangers having him on loan. I think the extent to which clubs truly care where their players go (beyond the loan fee) is overstated, but I'd still be surprised to see him pop up in a league which is largely equivalent to L1.

Brighton are willing to send him out on loan rather than sell him for what most see as a modest fee.

Yes, but I think that applies to a few clubs, and the usual scramble will ensue.

If we are in for Kenny, his injury would likely prevent him being available immediately any way, so if that happened late, it wouldn't be a concern.

Obviously another wide man or two, and a couple of strikers needed, but again SS suggested that the loan market may be needed, which again may be another late show.

Kenny is an end of window job if it happens at all. Need at least 4-5 others

I think sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take the risk that the inestment will be worth it . I seem to remember Coyle trying to get Zaha for £3 mil and was quoted £5m . Couldnt afford it and 9 months later he went off for £15m

You’d expect to see things start moving now that the markets picking up. You’re not going to buy players until the sellers have got people in.

Was always going to be a slow burn in an elongated World Cup year.

Good recent example of this is Tolaj. I baulked at the £1.3M buy of someone who has never scored above L2 level.
