FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

we really need to move on as fans from ACD FFS, it was only ever a loan, and post injury he was very ordinary

If CBT could start 75% of games I'd rather have him back which is more realistic

Move on FFS

No I refuse . Until he is in another teams shirt then he is coming back .

Problem with championship transfers is that a £5 millions is a normal fee for middle to top end teams for a player. main thing for us is to survive this season and look at buying players to build from there

I think sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take the risk that the inestment will be worth it . I seem to remember Coyle trying to get Zaha for £3 mil and was quoted £5m . Couldnt afford it and 9 months later he went off for £15m

iirc the asking gap was a lot less than that. Either way mistakes happen to every club. In that case we r'efused to be blackmailed'. Walked away from the deal .... & signed Marvin Sordell from Watford instead. Now that's was a poor exchange.g

And he got Sordell instead! 😩😂

It seems we reportedly bid quite a lot more than that and were still far apart in our valuations

Coyle would've ruined him anyway

Brighton are willing to send him out on loan rather than sell him for what most see as a modest fee.

Have you heard anything regarding Kenny or others.....Dont need names

Very little at the minute, unfortunately. Kenny is as close as it's ever been, but who knows what that means.

Think they are still after a keeper, the lad Ipswich have just signed is a potential option.

He started seven games after he came back from injury, scored three goals and assisted four. Scored the crucial goal against Bradford in the playoff semi-final and forced the own goal in the final.

If that's him being very ordinary imagine him on form.

He was confusing him with Salah 😃

Taylors off to a good start, gone off injured in his first game for Bromley. Might end up back here as seasons not started

Having watched tonight's game, the striking situation is really urgent. Dalby's having to play the bulk of all the friendlies as there's no-one to give him a half off and us still be able to play the same system.

Dalby himself has looked pretty laboured so far and didn't get much change tonight out of two rudimentary mid table L2 CBs. If he's to start us off in Champ he needs some serious pace and energy around him.

I think that’s a fair observation.

I don’t think anyone’s to blame.

And SS will be more frustrated than we are.

But we really do need forward reinforcements.

He might do but they've still got to pay for him.

Guessing we've probably got around 90% left of the budget for these remaining pieces.

And that's fair enough, no issue, the time is the concern, we will need every one of the 46 games to try and accumulate 50 points. Not ideal if we essentially give two or three away in August because we're so short staffed.

Agree, at least this season the window of success is much wider than before.

I agree , start of last season we dropped points in games we could have won early season partially down to keeper letting every other shot in.

I always remember a Wimbeldon manager talking about they stayed in top league for so long. ‘Our relegation battle starts in August not 8 games from end of the season’

He'd by c £3m per year based on:

£5m fee amortised over a 4 year contract

£30k pw including all bonuses plus Employers NI.

That doesn't paint the full picture though.

As I understand SCR the owners are only allowed to put in a maximum of £33m in equity over the next 3 years

That averages at £11m per season and using your figures the £3m per season would gobble up just over 25% of all investment for the next four years, ie 8 transfer windows, just on one player.

AND don't forget the club is trading at a loss!

It was the best part of £14m in the last accounts (up to June 2025).

Let us say the coming season FV manages to get it down to say £6m, then £3m provision for ACD, plus £6m provision for the trading deficit would only leave £2m to build the rest of the squad with to keep us up this season.

Of course I'm playing with numbers, FV has around £12m in the pot currently I reckon (and nobody has shot me down in respect of that total even though I've stated it enough times on here), They could invest £15m this season and not £11m.

Alternatively the trading loss could be well north of the £6m.

We could sign ACD for say £6m and sell him for £60m next season, then again we could sign him and he's injured in our first game and out for the whole season.

What I'm saying is that it is not just a matter of what it would cost us in SCR terms if we sign ACD for £5m on a four year contract, everything else needs to be factored in also, the clubs trading losses, year on year, still have to be funded, can we build a squad good enough to stay up if we went all in on ACD (and can we take such a risk on him not getting injured?).

Maybe we could maybe we couldn't and that's why we've simply got to trust in Harkin and Schumacher to get things right between them.

Not to mention cash flow. It would be over multiple windows though.

That alleged 5M bid was rejected, so it would be, in fact, more.

If i was brighton, id gamble on 5million being nowhere near his ceiling

Another loan, maybe not with us, surely makes more sense

Its not supposed to paint the full picture.

Its supposed to put a £5m deal on a 4 year contract on c£30k a week into context.

Any attempt to paint the full picture is going to fall short with so many moving and missing parts.

£30k a week, and we get relegated.. That's pretty much over half a teams wages.

We've been here before, but people seem to have short memories.

Being blunt, we need to shop within our means, as Casino said, a loan would be great, buying isn't an option for a club our size.

Well thank you but as I said above what you wrote didn't paint the full picture and you've just acknowledged that now.'

I also can't see how what you wrote put anything into context, as surely the context would depend on what finances FV have available to them and the opportunity cost of what they could do with their funds otherwise.

And yes any attempt to paint the full picture will fall short, I agree and that's why I said this...

Yes I get it. £30k pw is a guess - im assuming its the kind of wage which goes with a £5m player.

There are people above saying £5m is bargain and therefore good business using Zaha vs Sordell as justification.

As for Sluffys using our 24/25 trading loss as a start point for trying to pull together the moving parts - I dont agree its the easiest place to start. Simplify and use PNE turnover x 85% + £15m max allowed investment for SCR. But I dont want to bore everyone to death.

Either way - £1.25m pa amortisation based on a £5m fee over a 4 year contract - (cash payment timing is irrelevant for i&e accounts/SCR) plus £1.75m wage costs is a big chunk of the available allowed under SCR

By that logic no-one below the top 8 would be able to afford players because they're all sustaining massive losses and will have less revenue than we do next year.

A quick look at PNE's accounts and they're spending 6m on Devine despite having an 11m loss and only 18m on turnover. What am I missing?
