FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

I don't understand this SCR malarky, can you explain it to a layman please

Its the ground Wrexham play at . HTH .

Talking of which, I've always wondered why, if a player can't move club outside of the transfer window, why a manager can......imagine having appointing a dogshit manager in August, and being lumbered with him until 1st January, like it or not 🙂

Cos the managers get sacked . If a player was sacked by a club outside the window I think he could sign for anyone he wanted .

It's only 12 weeks at the minute, I'm not sure they could get away with making it much shorter - I actually preferred it when there wasn't a window at all, and transfers could be done whenever a club fancied a player.

I think the "window" has only been around for about 20 years hasn't it?

Why not?

As SS revealed, we already had plans for whatever league we were in, and targets for positions.

I would imagine that is the case for all clubs.

It would just hasten the stupid o'clock type rush by a few weeks, and allow coaches to concentrate on training.

He could sign for them, but may not be allowed to play for them if its outside the window, as he wouldnt be registered in time, or if it went beyond the max 2 clubs in the football year.

Fair enough , hadnt thought of that .

There's always been a window but it used to be that clubs could make signings until a certain date in March

We signed Djorkaeff in February

I believe it was the summer of 2002 they brought it in

I remember the March deadline, but you could always sign players in the months leading up to that March date, so during November or December if you wanted to

That is correct.

That deadline day in March was a very different beast to the one now. Deadline at 5pm sharp, all had to be registered with the football league, which from memory was in Lytham St Annes. In the mind's eye the league would have had a room full of secretaries to deal with the surge in demand - all listening to Jimmy Young on Radio 2 and eating digestives.

I suppose in later days things became more hi-tech with the advent of .... the fax machine!

As Bolton fans we would potentially not know until the following day's BEN whether we'd signed or sold anyone. Sometimes, if we were lucky, the morning national newspapers would publish a full list. All pre internet and mobile phones.

The one I remember most vividly was getting Andy May on loan from Huddersfield in 1988 (the Div 4 season). He was a player we'd actually heard of because he'd been at City before Udders. Lived up to the initial excitement too - lad changed our season, was brilliant in the last two months. Needless to say we failed to sign him permanently the following summer.

We can choose whether to ignore or believe the Forss £30k talk, the source is another player that has the same agency and 1:1 coach as Forss (yes, he has a 1:1 coach). But he has no reason to make it up.

Out of interest, what do we think Kenny would be on at Celtic that we would have to match? £20k a week minimum?

The logic from players on a free is that you're comparing the whole package which for Kenny would be say £1.5mil plus say £1mil wages in the first year. If Forss got £25k a week out of his next club whoever that is, its still cheaper than transfer fee and wages for a player contrated to another club.

And no doubt loaning someone like ACD would come at a huge cost salary wise if he's about to sign a new improved contract.

Never know how reliable data is on these sites but this gives average Championship salary os €908k, which works at about £15k per week which feels about right. Look how much fuckers at Leicester were on ! Forss can ask for whatever he wants that is how negotiations work, equally the club can say ‘fuck off’ or how about £10k per week plus bonuses.

Thinking through the ACD potential loan as well as the players career etc it might come down to who will pay the highest % of new salary if he signs a new contract.

not sure they can

we effectively sacked Sarcevic but I think he could only sign for Stockport because they were non League

Was that because he'd had 2 league clubs already ?

No, just because they weren't bound by EFL rules regarding adding to the squad. He wouldn't have been able to play for anyone in the EFL until Jan.

no, he'd signed for us the previous season

Then he can fuck off.

Whatever his inflated salary at Boro he did 3 Pat's of sod all here despite his acclaimed pedigree.

He looked really good at home against Wigan, scoring two really well taken goals. I honestly thought we'd got ourselves a gem on loan, plus the Boro fans were largely complimentary so I was very optimistic. After that next to nothing. And then he got injured.

Squad numbers, 9 and 19 are both free !

so is number 2 which is odd given we have 3 RBs

Randall got one, even though SS pretty much made it clear he doesn't have a future here.

Meh.

In the unlikely event that ACD does come back, I hope he gets the No. 9 shirt, just to make the song less embarrassing.

Hope at least ten of those are not here by Sep 1st
