You say interesting I say we've got no fucker else.

Il finger my own arse outside the club shop if Charlie Warren starts a league game for us this or any other season.

He probably won't, but he might end up coming on and doing something.

I'm now hoping he doesn't start a league game as I don't fancy seeing anyone doing that!

FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

He'll surely be going out on loan, especially as he's overage

The way ACD (and players like him) get judged in football is nuts. For him anything less than constantly beating his man, putting a goal on a plate for someone else or sticking one in the top corner from 20+ yards is deemed as an ineffective game. Whereas others - who could never do any of those things in a million years - get plaudits for winning a few headers or completing 90+ five yard passes.

It's how you end up with Rodri winning awards over Messi & Mbappe.

The lad got 20 goals/assists in 35 games last season - how productive are we expecting our wingers to be? And if he has two men marking him, surely it's on someone else to use that extra space and do something?

SS isn't daft. He'll know the score with Brighton and with ACD. If we're hanging it's because we believe there's a real chance of getting him eventually. I'm happy to wait for the closest we're going to get to a sure thing when it comes to having quality in this division.

I think you usually talk shit, but I could not agree more 👍😂😀👍

I may start reading your posts in more detail 😎

He also mentioned were not getting 15 or 20 chances a game like last season so need to be more clinical he wants to be competitive in every game but there are games were we might be in for a spanking ( or words to that effect )

For not being good enough amd the players knowing it he added they can see we have no right winger and only Dalby up top

I must have watched a different season because there were plenty games we didn't get 2 or 3 chances a game. So many times we got to H-T especially away and we hadn't had a sniff, we shouldn't forget how poor we were at times last season (in terms of we don't want to get to last season's levels, we have to be miles better). There were too many games we were falling asleep in (the might of Doncaster twice, Northampton twice and Vale away just to name 5).

That sounds like a bad season to me☹️

I'd take 20th though.

Yeh, no issue with what he (and you) are saying there 👍

The players here “seeing it in themselves that they are not good enough” was poorly worded then from @Farnywhite

Us as a team/squad being aware that we are not yet good enough because (amongst other positions) we have no right winger is what SS is saying - and the players see this.

There is no right winger who has been playing for anybody to see them as not being good enough!

Is Dong not a potential right winger that we've just signed to play on the wing? He played there v EFC and looked comfortable enough, I don't recall thinking he looked out of position, certainly not as jarring as Apter on the right.

We seemed to have loads of pre-sniffs but no actual sniffs.

Actual rumour, from a "journalist"... £1m bid rejected by Gent for Max Dean....

I’ve been travelling so I’m not up to speed but have we really spent £5 million on Cleary?

However its been interpreted / transposed onto here, SS was being honest, the players aren't daft and its a pretty reasonable and realistic view for them to be taking at this moment in time.

We didnt piss our way into the Championship with a squad that was too good for L1, we just about got there, via the play offs, and are minus some of the key assets involved.

What we've got at this moment would only moderately excite me if we'd stayed down and were refreshing and preparing for another go in L1.

It's frustrating, for SS and us as fans, that after all the missed chances and anguish we've finally got where the aim was to be but then look to be going to war with a peashooter.

We can only hope a few things drop into place over the next few weeks and, in the meantime, those we put out v Preston go out there, graft, scrap and do its level best to get us at least a point on the board, against one of a few other lower half sides whose fans are downbeat at a lack of action.

Well said

Probably a bit in front of where Kenny was last year.......From Ormskirk did well at MK Dons a couple years back.......Just the type of Gamble we need to be making

Agree on the point that the current squad wouldn't be getting me raring to go for a League 1 season, let alone Championship. We could end up having a weaker team out there than Sheff Wednesday this weekend

£5m on bollocks - who does he play for

I’m sure Schuey would love to send Charlie out on loan as he no doubt would Ritchie and Temple, probably even McAtee but the lack of incomings is also affecting outgoings as we can’t move players out until replacements come in. From the sound of it we won’t know on either ACD or Kenny until right at the end of the window and their own situations are sorted out but even then there’s no guarantee either will come here if we’re outbid by other clubs as it seems we have been already on some prospective targets. Are Kenny and ACD really that essential to us that we risk missing other options by waiting too long?

Thought it might be a bullshit rumour - there are plenty knocking around.

Makes you think why we were in such a rush to release players at the start of the window.

Tutu and Cissoko may have come in handy.

Cissoko would have cost a million....Feeling Stephenson was lined up at right back

If Tutu had played like he did last six games he would still be here

Aye you're probably right Just seems strange we were so quick at first. Seemed like there was a proper plan.

I reckon some funding has been pulled mid-window or summet.

I just think we've underestimated the fees required to buy players in this window. It does seem to have spiked rather sharply

You're right, and it makes the near-misses of the previous couple of seasons more costly. The longer it's taken the wider the budget gap to be bridged has become. Two years ago SB was open in saying that when we got up we'd need more investment. As fees and wages at the level have spiralled, the amount required to make an impact has grown.
