IE has made it clear that he wants to play pretty football, but on the days when it isn't working ,it would be good to have the option of switching to more direct football & chucking lumbering centre halfs upfront rarely works. Isn’t Delfounso a target man?

September 6, 20205 yr Definitely not a target man. Wants to be on the ball facing the goal whether its in the middle or out wide, not one you would play the ball upto for a chest control and lay off. We have to get used to a different style, no launching it to the big man, no flick on's, no winning cheap free kicks, no wingers. I'm looking forward to seeing the change, as long as it includes full backs doing some defensive work at some point.

Pretty sure Evatt said in one of his first interviews that resorting to lumping it up top and being direct wouldn't ever be an option that he'd turn to.
September 7, 20205 yr Just waiting for the shouts to start about “geddin it bloody forward” wont be long. 2nd game we’re allowed back I reckon..

September 7, 20205 yr Good. Given the comments about the pace of our back 3, why not. He could hop quicker.

September 7, 20205 yr Baptiste really tried Saturday but he is now old (ish) and not that good. Santos hasn't got a speed issue it was his positioning that was the problem and Zouma was the same; they both dont know whats going on around them.

Looks better defensively then the others as well so he may make a difference once he’s fit. Definitely hope Zouma re signs, was disappointed to see him not offered a contract but maybe he wanted too much money and has now relented if not fixed up. September 7, 20205 yr The problem with zouma, who I like. Is that he doesnt speak a word of the queen's so nobody is going to talk him through the game

We're going to offer you a contract, but its conditional that you do English lessons before or after training. We have faith in your footballing potential, but you need to be able to communicate better with your team mates. "Where do i sign boss ", via translator.
September 7, 20205 yr After more than two years over here, you’d have to expect Zouma can speak enough English to get through training and games. If he hasn’t picked it up already then he never will.

Never forget that match we suddenly decided to try and pass it. 0-0 and they were getting booed and shouted at for passing it about. the alternative being to launch it to no one. Think we had some small lad on loan in centre mid from West Ham?
September 7, 20205 yr Zouma is tailor made for this system isn't he? Big lad - confident on the ball - decent pace.
