Being linked with Jordan Shipley a midfielder at Coventry

Does he tackle & does he kick, bully & intimidate opponents ? Otherwise, what's the point ?

Just to be clear I'm not writing him off, far from it....but on that note, the 4th goal here doesn't fill me with confidence.

last two were both the types we concede

We're very flexible, we concede lots of different types of goals.

Any lads or lasses got kids who are keepers ? Or run kids teams ?

Not exactly the same, but similar.

In retrospect quite balanced given our position at the time , I won’t bother trawling through your previous mails you supercilious happy clapper.

Think we need to leave it to Evatt, it’s been a mixed bag so far but he created a team from nothing and in the end got us promoted. He has stayed loyal to players from last year that are clearly no good enough, some have gone, others seem to be on the way out. My main concern is how many soft tissue injuries we seem to collect. That really needs looking into.

You were probably saying that this time last year too.

What kids did we play in key areas last year?

Evatt said he wanted someone as backup to Dixon, so on that basis it makes sense- I don't see the lad replacing him.

I know there are concerns over Dixon, but it appears that IE has no intention of bringing in someone better, and letting Dixon develop off him.

With his penchant for not having a keeper on the bench signing Trafford would seem stranger still.

An experienced keeper is probably going to want £1500 a week+

Doubt we'll be paying anywhere near those wages for this lad.

Imagine Evatt feels that salary can be better spent elsewhere?

Anyway - can I be the first to say 'booooo' to all our new signings so that I can look clever if they don't turn out to be world class?

Yep, can't be anything other than financial reasons imo why we're signing a kid, plenty of quality keepers available on loan no doubt, looks like Dixon is going to stay number 1 for the forseeable.

Theres no many seasoned pro keepers out there that will want to spend all game playing short passes to his centre half and back.

It might be that Trafford offers us what we need, I hope he does and I'll obviously back him when he gets his opportunity.

I think I'd prefer us to spend that money on a goalkeeper though really. It's a pivotal position and I'd rather we didn't cut corners in favour of signing a better player elsewhere.

Fair point.

If he is 6'6" maybe he's going up front as part of our new "launch it long from Dixon" alternative approach. 😉

Whichever way you look at it he was dropped by Accrington. I'd say I trust IE but on goalkeepers after last season I'd be mad!

Good luck to the lad though

ffs. Evatt has some blind spots but his most obvious one is at goalkeeper.

After the Crellin debacle, having to get an aging but capable coach reserve up to speed, loaning the Burnley lad & never once playing him, signing a 'better-than-Crellin Dixon, and now looking at loaning anothing ameoba wtf is going on in his head ?

Get a capable, competent, experienced one for God's sake. They are available & everywhere. It's actually a position that gains you points. It's worth the expense. If it puts Dixon's nose out of joint ... good. Let him fight for his place.

I agree its a position we havent filled in 2 years. I wouldnt say its easy at all to get someone.
Think we need someone like a Scottish prem keeper who is out of contract soon.

Tough to fill.

Losing two of our wide players is a killer, it really is. He's going to have to look to recruit someone out wide surely?

What happened to that Irish goalkeeper we had on trial?

The 20yr old Irishman with experience at Drogheda has had his trial ended.

Didn't work out then? There were a few sides higher up the leagues sniffing around him weren't there?

A bunch of Scottish ones, which is hardly a recommendation and, mysteriously, Bournmouth ... but they didn't follow up.

Hey, he may become the next Gordon Banks but it's not what we need in the here & now.

Wasnt jussi 21 when making his debut for us.    He turned out to be not that bad.    I,ll give this city lad a chance (he maybe a cocky shit ) which would be nice.

We missed the boat a little bit on that one when Ofir Marciano was out of contract at Hibs last summer. Now at Feyenoord but Wiki reckons he’s only played twice this season.

And then there’s his wife….

Jussi was dreadful for us when he first got in the team.

Came good eventually but was hair raising ijit.

Goalkeepers are a special breed. The good ones get good and last forever.

There's very few good early doors (de gea the Munich cunt and donnarumma excepted).

The half decent ones who get old sit on prem teams benches as third choice keepers earning big (ish) bucks for doing fuck all until they retire.

The chances of us getting an experienced hungry for game time decent keeper for low wages is the same as us getting a 40 goal a season striker from the northern counties.

FACT

If we paid the wages for the lad from city, he would be the highest earner at the club.

It would be a pointless loan, even if we weren’t paying his wages.

Just like the lad from Burnley last season.

Evatt needs to sort this position out once and for all.

I agree - but maybe it was a choice of new keeper or Morley. Would you still go down the new keeper route if it was?

I'd probably strengthen centre midfield before I looked at the keeper.

All opinions though I guess......
