It’s for the greater good of the team.

No doubting mossey was a good player but getting him in the team made us worse in other areas.

Sadlier will be a good long term solution for that right wing back position. With Sheehan, Lee and that lad from Gillingham playing central attacking mid we need Sadlier playing consistently out on the right. Not sat on the bench as 4th choice CAM.

It might also mean we mix it up and go 442. Which will get the best out of afolayan as he’s wasted and ineffective playing centrally.

As a collective we’ll be better.

Sadlier cannot be our RWB going into the season. Not quick enough or defensively minded at all for that role and being asked to do it consistently was the reason he left Rotherham.

As much as I agree that Fossey's injuries are a concern and can't fault the club not pursuing at the level of Championship clubs, but it's hard to deny that with his pace and creativity in the side it's the best we've ever looked under Evatt.

So it's definitely a position we need to get right and early, I'd personally want us signing two as well, as Gethin is best now operating as that RCB rather than the WIng Back role at this level.

Did it? Pretty sure with Fossey In the side we played some of our best football and looked a lot more dangerous.

Sadlier is also not a RWB

It’s a shame but we move on, definitely Wigan in for him, let’s hope he goes to the midlands option.

We can get by without fossey, it's trafford we need back

The fact that he's not already gone to a championship club must mean we're still in the running.

Possibly a make your mind up message, and it wouldn't entirely surprise me if we grabbed him fairly soon.

Similarly, I wouldn't be surprised if we announced another fairly soon.

Like that kid at school who copies your homework on the back of the bus. The annoying bit is we tried to call their bluff and put down the wrong answers in Amos and Magennis and then the cunts turn in to relative world beaters.

Fulham have got a very similar player to Fossey named Sylvester Jasper who is a couple of years younger and if anything a little more orthodox and a little less erratic. Was on loan at Hibs last year but three changes in manager didn’t do him any favours. Not saying he’s necessarily the answer as I don’t think he’s played enough games to really judge him (neither has Fossey tbf) but I expect he will be on the radar.

Dunno. Think Wigan could be good if it plays out right.

Its a shame but getting Traff in was no1 priority for me.

Only if they pay top dollar give him a 4 year contract, plays 6 games and gets a career ending injury, wouldn’t wish that on Fossey so he’s got to go midlands club.  We will be less dynamic and spectacular without Fossey but potentially harder to beat as we showed after he got injured, we will be fine.

If Fossey goes Wigan I hope his knees turn to dust.

That's how I read it too.

If he wants to go somewhere else though, balls to him. I'd never heard of him this time last year and I'm sure there are others Evatt has got his eye on.

Just wish he'd not done all that ballooning on social media hinting at a return.

Was only here 4 months and was injured 2 of em

Wanted him back, thought we'd manage to get him back & admire his abilities as a player but it definitely seems its not worth all this amount of fuss. Can understand why Evatt is saying we'll move on because no player is bigger than the club especially not a player from Fulham who's only played a few games in his senior career. Sounds like he has his agent piping him up in his ear about all these potential pay rises from champ clubs along with hoping it makes us act desperate & rash in offering him something stupid outside of our reasonable means. All his injuries in his early career I understand how a successful loan could seal you a very good deal that can give you good financial security incase you do have the recurring injuries so he needs to strike whilst the irons hot. If you want to be part of our journey then you'll be backed to the hills here if you want to fuck off then off you pop, theirs always somebody else out there waiting in the wings.

Like I said a while back big red flag with his injury record perhaps on closer look it isn’t worth the risk

I think Evatt has known for some time it would be unlikely him coming back and has other options lined up

At no point has Evatt or the club said his injury record is prohibitive.

Nothing mentioned in the article neither.

Purely a suggestion of time, which is why I think it might still happen.

And they’ll resurrect the same old song they’ve had for just about every ex-Bolton player.

Ali  Absi / Adam Bogdan / Tony Kelly / etc, etc, etc

is a blue, is a blue, is a blue <repeat whichever name> is a blue, he hates Bolton!

All sang as though it’ll wind us up.

I trust evatt and co to bring in whoever.    Remember this is now a definate case of quality not quantity for the first time in ages.

Iredale in and I reckon what another 3 poss 4 if we count Trafford as a must do.

It was posted on here two weeks ago. Some chose to dispel it as made up bollocks though.

Would have loved him back but not devastated.

They key thing is that we're not a team that relies too heavily on individuals. We recruit players to fit our system, so as long as we can find someone with similar attributes we'll be OK.

I like the term specialist that LAR used above. Isgrove and Sadlier certainly aren't that but are good covering options, as well as Gethin. Hopefully we find another rough diamond to polish up.

Wonder if we'll splash any cash this window after our January spending...

what was it? 300k Charles, 75k Morley, 125k Dempsey?

500k total for a League One club is quite a lot so I'd be surprised to see us spend some money, especially if we've given Rico a bumper new deal too.

Ok I was sceptical but I don't know who's who on here either!

I think out of respect for the player the club wouldn’t say it directly imo

Looking at figures on Transfer Market.com we probably had one of biggest net speeds then. They reckon we paid 432k for Charles but didn't have figures for Morley/Dempsey or Sadlier (free anyway?). Even likes of Wigan & Ipswich although spent big recouped the money, eg 630k for Jason Kerr but sold Kyle Joseph for 500k plus. Charlton splashed nearly a million quid on 3 players who didn't improve them.  All about wages and getting decent players without paying a fee in this league.

Does show like you said Evatt was backed in Jan. And used it well!

Typo? - says 342k for me.

The 75k and 125k for Morley and Dempsey were just rumours I heard, no idea how accurate they are.

I'm 'looking forward' to seeing who our first player sale for money is. Don't think we'll see it until this time next year however.

I'd very much have liked him but if Championship clubs are iffering him terms & access to a higher division then good luck to him (unless it's Wigan, naturally).

If that all falls through then he'd better hope it happens soon as Evatt will have alternative options. I  assume he has had wind of MF going elsewhere for a few weeks.

He was a real bright spark for us for 3 or 4 months & I thank him for that. Now, we move on.
