I appreciate the Winter was exceptional but blimey.

Don't know what you were expecting? Signed 6 who potentially will be first team this season in Jan. That's counting Traff who's come back but not Fossey. In addition we got Iredale in very early and have the lad from Liverpool. Now Toal in next and maybe couple more at the most for 1st Team Squad.

Always going to be quality over quantity this summer I reckon and wasn't expecting an influx.

Much prefer it this way than signing a dozen players in one go. It makes a refreshing change to actually know the majority of our squad before the start of the season.

We knew how competitive the free market would be when the summer hit, lots of teams seem to be offering decent wages out. All the talk is about Sheff Wed, Derby but Charlton look to be having a right go at the market then there's obviously Ipswich who always bring in marquee names at the level season on season. No point in us outlaying 8K on a player who may not even start, as long as we don't go into the season evidently short of depth like last season which is one thing that we do seem to have now. We'll announce Toal this week... then probably one more which will most likely be a player out the blue who just pops up on the market who catches Evatt's eye e.g Kacha last season when he just turned up on the bench for the first game unfit.

With Toal coming in I look at our squad now and honestly can only think of 1 position where we could strengthen and that’s DM. That’s without factoring Thomasson in

2 or 3 options right across the park and probably only 2 of those whom I’d be a bit concerned if I saw their names on the team sheet (thomasson actually being 1)

man for man the most rounded and complete squad we’ve had for donkeys. Would have no issue if no one else walked through the doors

We have also focused on building the B-team squad with lots of transfers, some of which they will be looking to make the switch in the next 12 months or so

It wasn't an especially critical comment, just noting that it's been quiet.

I said that January had been exceptional.

It's interesting that you challenge that ... "Don't know what you were expecting?"

Yet go on to say we need a couple more "... Now Toal in next and maybe couple more at the most for 1st Team Squad".

You do see the contradiction in that I hope.

I think we're short of genuine wing-backs, especially considering how important a position it is in our current formation.

Can see what you’re saying where the left is concerned. John is out and we lose a lot of forward impetus with Iredale as he sounds to be more defensive minded. But on the right, Bradley, Isgrove and Sadlier looks sound. I know 2 aren’t legitimate RWB’s but good enough

It's a very difficult position to recruit for but if either John or Bradley were unavailable I'd prefer us to have specialists capable of stepping in.

No contradiction as far as I'm concerned. Don't think we necessarily need anymore after Toal just a guess off what IE has hinted. I dont think 3 or 4 in who can go straight in team is necessarily a quiet summer.

Also think having a settled team is a plus or hoping it turns out that way. MK, Weds, Barnsley, Charlton all brought some decent looking players but they have also lost some decent ones as well.

Starting to think Derby might win it though over the season.

What’s the rules about taking and playing loan players?

I agree Aldo and I’d still love to see Marlon back as he added so much to the attack last season.

Have i missed something, Fossey not showing as a player on Fulham site.

He has 12m of his contract left to  still to run. He played for Fulham last weekend in a friendly & did OK, by all accounts.

Wigan, long seen as his likely destination, at least by Bolton fans, signed a right back at the weekend.

He'll get fixed up, of course he will, but if Fulham keep him he'll be lucky to benchwarm.

To be fair, it was a good question.

Totally passed me by but just seen bale signed for LAFC in the MLS

Which I'm sure he'll enjoy

Yep. He strung 'home club' Cardiff along for a while then signed for LA, I assume for megabucks.

I guess the golf is good out there.

Stolen a living for the past several years. I guess he will get over it.

Remaining in the game purely to play for Wales every few months

Alternatively, he was victimised by his club, but he refused to be pushed out.

Fella is still a fantastic player.

Correct, he decided to see his contract out at Real and who could blame him. It was their choice whether to play him or not. Still a very good player and great that he will get to play at a World Cup for Wales.

I don't think he's stolen a living, it was only the last season he was ostracised

not sure about victimised either

aye, they wanted to move him on in the last year of his contract (after he was happy to go on loan the season before), but he wanted to sit it out, he said he wanted to fight for his place, but everyone knew he wasn't starting, so just warmed the bench with one eye on the golf course

up to him like, but he's clearly not bothered about playing at the highest level anymore, when he clearly could do, if he wanted

Exactly. He's strengthened certain areas & resigned Trafford.

We were up the top of the form league post January. Could have gone up given another 10 games. One of the best transfer windows I've seen at this club since Big Sam. Evatt would be daft to disrupt that too much.
