He's a decent, steady player but if Burnley are looking for top championship level, they won't find it with Cullen, unless he's improved massively in the last 2 years.  Looks like another "its who you know" signing.

Darcy will cut a career, Division 3/4.

I still find it hard to believe there wasn’t a place somewhere in our squad for Darcy.

He’s a young lad with plenty of time to develop, we should be keeping hold of  our decent young prospects.

Are Isgrove & George Tommo that much better than Darcy? Nah

He isn't upto the level of the current squad, we've progressed and improved, but as you say one or 2 others are arguably in a similar bracket.  But Darcy must have been frustrated that he only got 1 game in the bottom half of league 2 whilst Hickman, White, Comley etc were given loads of opportunities to prove they weren't good enough even though it looked obvious from the start.

Unfortunately Isgrove got injured but he was playing really well; Thomason I am not sure about- had some decent games but a bit of a headless chicken at times

Was he ever going to get picked ahead of Dapo, Lee, Sheehan, Sadlier? No. 
 

Can’t carry players in the squad based on sentiment.

I thought he started to show quite a bit of promise right before Covid hit, to be fair.

Twatted that one in at the 5-1 v Lincoln right in front of us and gave us a rare moment of joy that season. He'll probably remember those celebrations forever.

Didn't get that much time in reality, and when he did it was generally because of injuries to others or as a sub. Did ok and has soke ability, but IE obviously doesn't see him as being what we need.

Unfortunate, but it's probably best for all parties, so he goes with thanks and best wishes.

I like Darcy but he seems to have stopped improving this last 18 months, so a fresh start is best for him.  Thomason on the other hand is still improving in his short professional career. Doubt he’ll be a first pick in midfield and he would have to improve immensely to play at Champ level, but IE obviously rates him and thinks he’ll get better.

Just realised Darcy was the last of the starting 11. I must’ve misinterpreted the twatter post
