I get on at todmorden.

Train from Manchester side gets into Interchange which is wrong side of centre.

 

I would suggest getting taxis to North Parade , meant to be a few decent places round there and it is on way to ground.

It's half a mile from the interchange to north parade, pass through the city centre, stop off in the usual establishments en route.

Always the Fighting Cock too if anyone likes proper ale. About 15 mins walk to the ground.

I think I would change formation a little for Saturday, go to a flat back 4 even though I don't like Derik at right back. 4 in midfield -  Vela, Thorpe, Morais, Henry with Long & Madine up top 

Spearing's absence is going to really hurt.

 

We could really do without Beevers getting booked on Saturday and keeping him company at Sheffield United.

The thing is, in that system there is a massive reliance for the left/right of the midfield 3 to cover the wing backs. In the 1st half we were fine down the left because Taylor is a machine and Trotter could just about manage to shift across. In the 2nd half though Moxey isn't as great and left more gaps and Trotter was just 3 yards behind play, chasing shadows.

 

Trotters biggest problem isn't that he won't run the distance that Vela/Spearing will, it's that he isn't fit enough/quick enough/clever enough to keep up with the short sharp movement around him, often a tricky no.10 or similar. It doesn't take much more than a 1-2 or a couple of short passes and he's out of the game, he just seems to arrive at each player about a second after they have got rid of the ball.

 

We got away with it last night because Spearing reads the game so well and can see when this is going to happen most of the time and gets across to cover him. It'll be a completely different story without him for the next 2 games though, Spearing is going to have to spend the next week in training teaching Thorpe how to babysit Trotter.
