I think he'd argue that had we not intervened in the middle east - then the power vacuum that allowed ISIS to flourish wouldn't exist - ergo attacks like the ones on the Coptic Christians would be less likely.

If we closed down all Saudi financed mosques and stopped intervening in the middle east - then perhaps we'd be halfway there?

 

Im not saying it's all down to foreign policy - clearly there are elements within Islam which are worrying. But I also think we need to be honest about whether we have helped or hindered their cause. The solution (if there is one) is going to come from lots of places.
