I might take a look when I get time. It'll have no ramifications for me, as well continue to trade with China as we always have done, unless the Government want to kill near enough every single UK manufacturer and risk Sterling being trashed by China dumping the c20% of all UK debt they own. Its a nice idea I suppose, but nothing will happen.

They'll probably make some sort of token effort and put some sanctions on business from somewhere like Myanmar, and then try and claim a moral high ground..... Whilst still expanding trade with the likes of China and Saudi Arabia

Sorry, late to this discussion. Apologies if this has already run it’s course or been pointed out already.

If UK did cease trading with China on the grounds we don’t like the way they choose to run their country, wouldn’t it just introduce a middleman? Say, Turkey or any other country does the trade with China, add 10% handling fee and then trade with UK.

In effect, UK trying to police the world simply adds (in my simplistic effort at understanding world economics) 10% to the cost of anything currently being bought from China.

Can’t see us not trading with China, in fact I think it would be more likely we do a free trade deal, in my sector we’re paying 10/12% tariffs at moment.

Just another Friday night in the WW Arms.

Pub bores giving it the big one.

Shall we liven it up and talk about cats ? Mine was sick twice today.

Cats are the best hence the term 'the Catwalk' 😃

Dogs are shite hence the term 'dog's abuse '

Welcome to the Friday night club. My next door neighbour has a cat. It’s not really relevant. Just like your post.

Fabricated nonsense by Sturgeon

She doesn’t want independence, she wants to be separate from England.

😊 Not sure if entitled is the right word but it fits with the narrative.

Therein is the essence of what I see the new trade Bill Is trying to achieve.

Allowing some parliamentary control over new deals, but not preventing us trying to achieve them in the first place.

Rather than painting yourself into a corner, and being unable to have any influence, perhaps keeping your hand in and influencing from within.

Anyway, have a read at this: some particularly interesting parts- the Larkhall hub and its issues have been resolved and that is particularly important.

The penultimate paragraph is priceless.

I'm no fan of the SNP. I'm no fan of nationalism.

The genius of the SNP is to move the message to align with the left and kill of Labour in Scotland. Its a paper in itself. Its a party that has played it so well, also getting rid of Salmond helped.

I've seen clever friends of mine who live in Scotland become nationalists when they are anything but. England has to swallow its pill and we let this flower in Scotland bloom. Nationalism is only successful as a counterpoint to  oppression or perceived oppression.

Personally I loathe the SNP, and hope that one day centrist politics can hold more balance in the North, from liberal Conservativism to Labour.

Is it not inevitable that the United Kingdom splits up and Scotland and Wales become independent, Northern Ireland and Ireland unite and split off, and England either becomes a republic or a secular state where the queen renounces the church of England so she can remain head of the country?

Serious question

Why do you put the odd word in italics?

Does it somehow make you’re point a bit more pertinent or do you think you are somehow cleverer than everyone else?

Good article that and excellent support from government, underlines my earlier opinion that these teething problems will get sorted.

How many businesses going to the wall and job losses would you say are acceptable given the teething problems?

And if it was your job, or those of your family,  threatened/lost, would you whistle all the way home without a breath of complaint happy that “we” are in control?

The real point is that it doesn't matter.

It's done and everyone has to do their best to work within the current paradigm.

As someone said, it's (very) early days and the government will be  working at ironing out as many creases as possible.

It’s bad news the speed of delivery and the slow start in beginning vaccines is devasting for EU economies, obviously I keep very close eye on Spanish developments and the virus is climbing rapidly along the Costa Blanca, they’ve just shut hospitality again, the hospitality sector is fuming, there’s been little support for Spanish business nothing like the support our businesses have had, basically Spanish government is bankrupt and are waiting for EU bailout, unfortunately the coalition can’t agree to the conditions the EU are requesting for the bailout, would imagine that other nations in the EU are in similar situation, it’s all looking very bleak.

The mortgage providers of the 8 blokes we laid off yesterday will hopefully be as accommodating

The main thing is that you got to enjoy hospitality when YOU were there though.

We did, we paid for the privilege to ensure ours and others safety, tested before, tested on return after 5 day isolation and kept in our family bubble for 10 days while in Spain .... used our common sense.
