We do a bit of business in Ireland we’ve decided to go ex works for now, this means we provide the country of origin, weight, codes, invoice & packing note to the buyers nominated transport company and the customer pays the transport and other and cost, we give a bit of a discount to the customer as we normally cover freight. See how that goes for now.

It may well do- it was the Chief exec of Unilever UK in fairness, presumably the rest will be doing likewise.

They didn't question him too much, no time, but I get your point: perhaps it applies to companies all over- not sure how some would demonstrate their pay levels, as some countries might not specify what a living wage is.

I think this echoes my point. Pay £10 an hour here or we will move to a £1 a month sweat shop.  It sounds admirable and I hope it is meaningful.

Anyone other than spider changed their minds about their votes/opinions yet?

I think Ive gone from remain to not mithered as I think much will be the same in the end deeming it all even more pointless than I first imagined but glad the world hasn’t caved in.

At present it’s not affecting me adversely so I’m happy with my choice. Could’ve done without the shenanigans of the last few years though.

And I’m busy as fuck at work but that’s driven by covid more than brexit although some of it is people not committing pre deal and now are coming forward.

shame that people I have time for are being impacted though that’s not good at all. Cunts I don’t like i hope they suffer but not cos of brexit just in general 😁

Similar. I do think if people struggle due to implications of brexit that would disappoint me also.

I understand there are winners and losers in life but I think this could be a rich getting richer (which I’ve no issue with unless at others expense) and poor getting poorer. Still early days mind

Too early for anyone to make a judgement although as we all know some people did that before a deal was even struck and won’t change their minds no matter what. As is their prerogative

I have not changed, still do not see what the benefits of leaving are. Just hope we do not spending years claiming and counter claiming what each bit of news means, just get on and make the best of it

Still no comment on leavers about not being able to take ham and cheese butties across borders though

I was remain. Still wish the vote had gone the other way, but of course hope I was wrong and that we come out of this as strongly as we can.

Anyone who wants otherwise to prove they were right is a dick.

Voted remain because I didn't see the point in leaving, I didn't buy any of the reasons as to why it would be good, populism at best

Since the day after the vote I've been like "ok, let's go"

Time will tell, but after 4.5 years I'm still thinking what was the point (?)

I was on the fence until polling day when I voted leave.  I regret it and it's sad that we've left but it is what it is.  Time to get on with it. Forget the point scoring and get through this next phase and see where we are when things settle down.

I voted leave in no small part because I was assured by those leading the campaign that we would be freed from EU entanglements and restrictions.

We always had sovereignty so that part of the Brexit claim will be a mystery forever.

I changed my mind somewhat once it became clear that we were simply inventing more red tape rather than reducing it.

My experiences of importing over the last 3 weeks prove me right and hereby claim a BOOM of planet-shaking proportions to validate how correct I was.

Yes we were sold a complete load of nonsense from Farage et al. However, I think the biggest implication will be the effect on the UK union and GFA peace treaty.

Question Time had NI politicians and audience last night and was very interesting.  They are now openly discussing a referendum on a united Ireland and this will only get louder for the next few years like in Scotland.

I respect people's opinions and know that we all vote for what we think is in our interest, but it still amazes me people could vote for such a huge constitutional change to the country just on the basis it might allow them to sell more fish.

I think many voted with immigration as the main reason.  Ironically illegal immigration will remain an issue regardless and we will likely see shortages for NHS, care work and hospitality sectors in the future as these were all strongly represented by non-British workers.

It’s become the regret thread!

In all honesty - and I accept it's early days - I'm yet to speak to anyone in the business world who has anything good to say about the situation.

Nor have I come across anyone wandering down the street with £50 notes falling out of every pocket (apart from Miami)

You're just mixing in the wrong circles, surely?

I'd expect there to be a lot of regret for the next 3 to 5 years, then we'll slowly start to come out of it, and it'll be OK. We just need to ride out these next couple of years, and hope that not too much damage is done. I'm sure it'll be fine eventually, we always knew we wouldn't see any immediate up turn in our fortunes, it was always going to take 5-10 years minimum

In reality, we'll not know if leaving the EU was the right thing to do for at least 10-15 years, not that it'll stop "leave" people crowing about a £50 trade deal with Guam, or stop "remain" people complaining when a fat bloke from Hull who chops wood for a living goes bust and blames it on Brexit

Anybody who thought this year the sky would fall in and we'd have to resort to eating feral pigeons or equally thought that we'd be come the envy of Europe with our bountiful global trade deals needs to give their head a shake.

Same here, it's hit my industry harder than we thought - still, I'll reserve judgement for a little while longer. If we're still in this chaotic situation by June, then it'll be obvious that the issue does actually go beyond "teething" problems.

@Spider, I know you'll feel this pain........we've got a container, stuck at Felixstowe (I think) - we only have about 50% of the container, and the rest is filled up with all sorts of other shit. There is a paperwork issue with something in the container, so the full lot has been impounded, and we don't know when they'll get around to sorting it.

We've been told a huge issue is lack of staff due to COVID, and people isolating and the restrictions they have to go through, but also our Freight Forwarder down there has advised they're already two weeks behind due to new paperwork, so can't get to "our case" for at least 10 days. Only anecdotal, as I didn't speak to the guy myself, but our expediting department said one of the guys at the FF said before, if a ship came in from Rotterdam, they could unload it and it be on it's way within 24 hours, that's now taking up to 5 days due to paperwork.
