Because Blair did it, that that's ok is it? And when a high profile figure at one organisation (mufc) is blown out, then it's ok because its mufc. It's simply a case of an organisation re-asserting its authority over an employee who is damaging the reputation. The rest is fluff. We'll see if Lineker has the bollocks to go it alone and pursue his political beliefs outside of the organisation. Quote

I know it's been a while since Blair was in office, but try a read, and you might understand. It's the norm, perhaps wrongly so, but not a one party issue. Whether or not you like to portray it that way. It means you're digging a hole deeper.... and deeper. Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson - two people who hold very differing opinions to Lineker are now outright defending him. Fair play. I honestly thought you'd be the last person to think this was ok, but there you go. I've read the link above - no idea why it is being used as evidence he broke the rules. If anything it only shows they were very blurry, borderline oppressive and hypocritical. It is absolutely no surprise that this has blown up in their faces. A company that tells their staff they can't publicly voice an opinion based on party lines - yet go ahead and send donations to political parties and scrap certain shows because they're worried they might offend. You couldn't make it up Edited March 10, 2023 by London Wanderer Quote

You're just making a load of stuff up to have a pop at a bloke who had a pop at a proposed policy on migrant boats. If he was having a pop at labour or something you agreed with you wouldnt be serving this amount of flannel. Total flannel that makes no sense. RW is a continuous wind up mission so he doesnt count Quote

Site Supporter fatolive Posted March 10, 2023 Site Supporter Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) If Lineker had tweeted “ them boat people should fuck off back to where they came from “ the same people criticising him on here would be defending his right to free speech Possibly the same people defending him now would be crying out for his sacking . its fucking incredible. He said it on Twitter , he hadn’t really said anything that bad in fairness, who gives a fuck really . as an aside, not many people discussing Matt Hancocks WhatsApp today … Edited March 10, 2023 by fatolive Drunk fat fingers Quote
Members Lt. Aldo Raine Posted March 10, 2023 Members Posted March 10, 2023 The BBC has a very stringent policy on impartiality - as an organisation funded by the taxpayer it practically has to - and Lineker seems pretty clearly to be in breach of it despite previously being given a warning. He's the corporation's highest paid (and probably highest profile) employee and if they can't be seen to enforce their impartiality policy on him then it falls down like a house of cards. It seems obvious matters were eventually going to come to a head. Quote

You okay mate😂 you’re the only one screeching tonight. Personally I’m finding this level of hypocrisy hilarious. then again , at least you’re not trying to use the excuse that Tony Blair did it, therefore it’s ok. Hate to break it to you, but there were no set rules. Top tip - take a proper read first before you post a link x Quote

He’s perfectly entitled to this opinion of course. “Hello Mick Lynch are you happy with yourself bringing the country and ordinary people down on their knees over Xmas. You don't fool me waiting for the employers to come to table. You love the publicity.Your members would like to earn what you get.Why don't you waive your salary.” There are those ‘very stringent’ BBC impartiality laws in action 😂 Quote

royal white Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Clarkson and linekar both said what they were thinking, absolutely nothing at all wrong with that. But if your employer has set out some pretty basic rules which you can’t follow then you will probably lose your job. It’s that simple. Whether you’re Johnny the plumber, a TV show host or the PM.
