Won’t be able to clear the party of momentum and the left wing cranks as they hold the power. Gets rid of them. Won’t be able to win an election because he’s too boring and doesn’t stand for anything. Wins. Will be the most unpopular PM ever within weeks…sees huge popularity boost. At this point it’s maybe time to reassess and whilst this is a honeymoon period he’s a man who has essentially quietly beaten the odds time and time again. I wouldn’t want to be up against him. Some commentators who knew him were saying this for a while, that he is ruthless - and will work hard to win with a clear strategy and putting who he believes to be the right people in the right positions. The first cabinet reshuffle will be interesting because anyone failing to do a job up to a certain standard I'm sure will be cut and replaced with the same ruthlessness. He created the right environment for the luck that did come his way - an embodiment that hard work can bring you the success you deserve. Quote

Weird how some folk (not necessarily on here 😀) seem to want him and the government to fuck up. I get most people are on either side of the fence and they won't appeal to everyone, but surely we all just want them to try to do a decent job of running things. Not asking for miracles. Quote

Exactly this. I'm no tory, but I wanted them to be successful at running the country properly. Quote

I think the 2 child benefit limit is a good example a weaker less confident leader would give in. Maybe the first thing a Jeremy Corbyn type leader would do. I expect the cap to be gone by next election maybe 2 budgets in. But it will be done when Labour have improved the economy enough to make it affordable. So the message is all about sensible management allowing Labour to deliver more. Quote

The majority means he can do what he wants but he doesn't want to start niggles of infighting so a promise to re-look at it as you say will help. Quote

How Cleverly can try and defend that with a straight face is beyond me. Quote

And there are people who claim there was no money in 2010 because Labour spent it all - which is nonsense. But even if we accepted that they spent it making the NHS the best it has ever been. This lot have spent ten times as much bunting their mates with back door deals and then on stuff simply to try and keep their corruption riddled party in power. There is no excuse - worst government we’ve ever endured and it’s not close. Quote
