Much of that is political choice

We'll see.

The choice seemed to be to get some of them shipped to Rwanda, and others deported. Not convinced Johnson/Sunak were fully on-board, but that's a separate discussion.

On both counts, courts make that very difficult, and therefore slow.

Same issue applies to the new government.

Preventing more incoming is one thing, getting those already here out, is something else.

Not going to be easy.

No fuckers been processed for years

They either gave up or wanted to create an issue

Or maybe both :)

But they did not do that. It was something else they talked about but did not even begin to deliver.
It also was not aimed at students.

So I will have you down as 'they did nothing'

Calamity. I am not sure that I will be able to sleep tonight worrying about it.

Weird how some folk (not necessarily on here 😀) seem to want him and the government to fuck up.

I get most people are on either side of the fence and they won't appeal to everyone, but surely we all just want them to try to do a decent job of running things.

Not asking for miracles.

Fanny 5 is off his fucking rocker. Already spouting about success after a couple of weeks? FFS, the honeymoon period must be over and I missed it? (it won't be over til early next year).

"Gets rid of the left wing cranks'? Not got rid, merely sidelined. They will be back in the spotlight before you know it.

"Won't be able to win an election. Wins". He didn't win an election, the Conservative Party handed it to him on a silver platter. It was the unlosable election - if he had lost it he may as well have sought a different career path. Time to revisit the vote share. Marginally more than the 'left wing crank' got in the previous GE.

I have already given Starmer a couple of ticks and if it gets even higher then great news as it will likely be good for the country. There's always a caveat. Never, ever trust a socialist. The madcap shite will likely come after they've schmoozed the general populace into fat, dumb and happy indifference by behaving themselves during the honeymoon period. Lammy has already sneaked one through by reinstated funding to UNWRA - the organisation charged with aiding and abetting Hamas on the 7th October. This is just the start.

The trifle has finally slid off the stand.

Anyway, im pleased the UK has rejoined the humanitarian effort in Gaza after suspension by most developed economic countries doing their own due diligence on the accusations of 12 of their workers against a staff of over 13k and like the UK have now resumed funds.

Again - sock label levels of reading.

They’ve already started, Muslim lady MP calling for the 2 kids benefits rule to be extended to every kid, no surprise as Muslims birth more kids than other religions, Starmer needs to keep these types under lock & key, failure will inevitably return a Tory government.

The 2 child cap benefit isn't about religion so let's not start making it divisive on those grounds.

Your Islamophobia is showing. Is Rosie Duffield a Muslim? Kim Johnson? Mary Kelly Foy? Gordon Brown? All are calling for the 2 child benefit cap to be scrapped.  Suella Braverman even stood up in Parliament yesterday and called for it to be scrapped, to much amusement. Is she a Muslim now? What about Nigel Farage? Has he converted?

No surprise to any of us with a little 'longevity' mate. We know what is most likely to come.

Let the wet behind the ears types learn the hard way like we had to.

Labour will scrap the cap, but I wouldn't expect it to happen in the next 18 months.

Reform UK also want it scrapped, so it's not going to a wholly unpleasant decision.

It'll cost £3bn over the term of the Government. That sounds a lot, but Rwanda was going to be £10bn and remind us all how much we spunked away on PPE?

Braverman and Farage are also calling for it to be scrapped are they not? - as far as I'm aware, neither are left-wing or Rayguns

3 billion will be the tip of the ice berg allow it and it encourages spongers to have more kids, it also sends out the message that the state will look after your kids for you. Wrong on all fronts, kids are the responsibility of parents.

Let's pretend that isn't rabid nonsense for a minute... what would your alternative be? Forced sterilisation? Leave kids living in squalor? Send them and their parents to some sort of labour camp?

Has it ever occurred to you that a decent start in life leads to a far higher chance of someone becoming a productive member of society when they reach adulthood?

Rabid nonsense!  You are the team leader🤣 Teach parents responsibility for  their actions. It’s quite clear many folk take advantage of these benefits, we’re feeding all new kids into school, now some people want the state paying extra for over 2 kids…. Learn to take responsibility for your own actions and pay your own way for the choices you make. That’s what I want politicians to enact… not raise taxes for those who receive nothing from the state.

I take it you privately educated your kids then, and you've never used the NHS?

you do know theres millions on UC who are in work?

how about we get employers to start paying an adequate wage and not get baled out by me and you

i do think folk should be responsible for their own behaviour and only have the kids they can afford - there needs to be protection for folk where life goes tits up - but until then, it serves no purpose turning out another generation of kids brought up in poverty
