Ah

The Reform DOGE

Let's see how they get through all the GDPR loopholes.

I'm not sure their supporters are advocates of snooping unchallenged at private details.

It'll all end well, I'm sure.

Labour are all over the place about defence spending and “war-fighting readiness” but something’s going on at Nottingham County Council. There are deflections and there are Wanderersways deflections. 😅

DOGE made up of all these experts who are working for free.

I live the idea of rooting out waste in Councils, having worked alongside them there must be loads from what I saw. But who are these people who are being brought in to sort stuff out ? Seems very strange.

Don’t talk about the main opposition on a politics thread…

ok then

From the BBC yesterday. There are many other embarrassing local councillor stories for all parties out there. Maybe start another thread if people are so interested in grass roots politics around the country.

Seems it’s all Starmer’s fault that Nottinghamshire voted the way they did.

All over the place about defence spending.

if they spend, they’re wrong. If they don’t, they’ll be wrong.

With Putin still alive, I’d say spending is the sensible approach.

Rubbish man. The Aussies stopped it simply. Gun boat with all of the menace that implies turning boats around and escorting them back to the shore they left from.

Get out of the fucking ECHR and get on with it.

As I said earlier, we could happily start blowing them out if the water, for sport, but they'd still come, and some would still get through. You'll never be able to stop them making the effort to get here illegally

No need for that. We are good people. We don't want them to drown in the Channel nor do we want them adding extra load to already overstretched services and national purse.

Simply return them from whence they came.

If it is true that they have often used a lifetimes savings to get to that point, the return of serve of thousands would very quickly lessen the desire to take the risk if it has all been for naught.

The average Gammon really doesn't know which way to twist these days, they're confused as fuck. The only thing they seem to be consistent on, is that all our ills are down to foreigners

The bullshit peddled by all of you Remoaners. Just washes over us by now - like the 'r' word. No impact through overuse by blowhards.

😁

In fairness, as Reform is such a new Party (are they actually a Party these days, or still a Ltd company?) - anyway, as such, they've got a lot of work to do on the calibre of person they have representing them, and they've got 4 years to do that, and they need to start recruiting the right people.

As I mentioned earlier, winning the amount of seats they did in the local council elections was great for them, but it could end up being to their detriment......possibly "too big too quickly"

Their leader, Farage, is known for not actually wanting to do any work. His local constituents are already complaining that he's not actually doing very much "local MP" work. Then you have the debacle in Nottingham County Council, where they've taken control, and then promptly cancelled all committee meetings for June. Fairly similar for Kent, where they've cancelled far more meetings than they've had (4 of 5 meetings cancelled)

They may well be the next Party in power, but they could just as easily shoot themselves in the foot over the coming weeks, months and years.

I don't think Reform have yet come under any where near the scrutiny that they can expect if they genuinely look like being a contender come the next election.

That's when they might conceivably implode.

Having said that - if I was Nigel Farage I would just keep talking about small boats whenever possible, because that seems to be the overriding issue that the people voting for them seem to be interested in.

That’s not public transport. Now Randwick to Circular Quay is another matter. 😉 From the report posted, it would be of interest to Gonzo rather than me. Never been to Knott End. 😊
