where we got to was working fine

folk on both sides reckon this process could set us back decades

The more I think about it; this is for me the biggest potential stumbling block of brexit. I entirely agree we don't want to go backwards, especially given the current situation in stormont.

Funnily enough, if you knock out the 18 NI seats in the Commons the Conservatives have a very narrow majority.

Sorry malc I'm not following you. I'm referring to border between Eire and ni. and how it might be affected by brexit.

Despite clocking up 50K debts to get an education, they "no nowt". Fuck me, you'll be telling us you went to the university of life next.

You believe that bollocks perhaps your not as bright as you think you are.

the irony is, theres many england (and colonies) based red handers who couldnt wait to vote brexit who gave no thought to this

and then theres plenty who did who think we will just wing it

I do believe that so long as there's a will on all parts there's a solution out there. Just hundreds of years of history that can't be swept away.

aye, but the thing is, both sides dont want the border returning but Brexit means it must be, the proposed sea border for the island as a whole wont be accepted, not because of it'll seem like a step to a united Ireland but because it will put a border between NI and Britain which wouldnt go down well.

You are correct in saying its a major stumbling block

That's because they just take a position and don't fully understand it. A prime example were the clowns predicting a landslide Brexit vote in Gibraltar.

Do you accept Malc that this is very much the viewpoint of the older generation i.e. over 50s? And as such it's one that will die off, with that generation? Ergo all this is pointless.

A majority of over 50s voted to leave. Not an overwhelming majority because some took note of Project Fear.

A majority of younger voters indicated a preference for staying to opinion polls but a large proportion couldn't be bothered to vote.

I cannot envisage a hard border between north and Southern Ireland in fact if the EU don't sort their shit out I could see Ireland leaving the EU rather than accepting a hard border between the 2 countries. Maybe we should be courting Ireland on that matter. The more seeking independence the merrier.

I didn't ask anything about voting.

Give over, that won't be happening.

It won't because there's no such country as Southern Ireland.

hahahahahaha :D Brexit-think truely is something to behold

Fucking hell, I didn't know Norman Tebbit was on here!

Doesn't Ireland do pretty well out of the EU?

I think that Ireland leaving the EU, just so they don't have to put up a fence/wall is a bit fanciful isn't it?

They voted to leave once and they know where there breads buttered and that's the UK not the EU. Could easily see this happening.

Seems not.

When you scratch under the surface the unity of the EU isn't what it at first seems. No wonder they want to be seen to punish the UK for leaving, thankfully we are standing up to the EU and that will encourage other countries to do the same.

I've seen you as much as I've seen him in the last 12 months. I'm off ukip until Farage returns. By the way he's now personal friend of Nigel these days. ???? He sent me invite to a grouse shooting event a few weeks back at a cost of 6k where Farage would have been present. LH lad paying 6k to shoot a helpless bird he must be off his head inviting me.

Stupid comments from Hammond and I'm suprised he has made them considering he is one of the least anti EU MPs in the cabinet makes me wonder if he's on his way out as chancellor.

If I had £6k to blow I'd happily pay it just to shoot at the fuckers who get enjoyment out of shooting defenceless animals.
