My mate who works for them told me they are due to trial a system where you buy a chip for the boot of your car so the delivery driver can open it and leave your parcel inside.

They'll deliver wherever your car is.

Drone delivery is already on the verge of being rolled out fully across cities too.

Madness

My daughter's friend works for Amazon and she told me that they have been applying for (and receiving it) to have charger units to be placed on top on lamposts across the UK for all of the drones that will deliver your parcels

I think that TM was right the other day when she said that as a nation - we never felt 'fully in' - probably because of geography more than anything else. I think most people know a lot more about the EU and how it works now than they did pre or during the referendum - and in a way I think Parliament and the media gave us very little insight into its inner working when we were 'in the club' - which is a shame as we were a major player in where the direction the continent took. Now we're just an onlooker. I can't see how that doesn't diminish our standing in the world - but I'm sure others see it differently.

I don't hate anybody for having a different view about this by the way - politics is a subjective thing.

I see us as the little half brother/sister (geographically speaking) that everyone else in the EU resents. We have far too much power and clout for our relative size for their liking and have tried to push us to the periphery for years.

It could go horribly wrong but it may work out. Half the country think one way half the other.

Time will tell

With regards to us 'taking back control of our finances, boarders and laws'

In terms of finances our net contribution to the EU is less than 2% of our total public spending, with that in mind its a huge stretch to make out like we have lost control of our own spending. It's like me saying that Ruport Murdoch controls my personal finances because I pay SKY £40 a month!

Borders - we have control over them, we are not in the shengen area so you need a passport to enter the UK

Laws - We have a right to veto anything that we don't agree with, so it's safe to say that no laws have been forced on us that we really didn't want to be

The money we give to the EU, £160mill, may be 2% of public spending but it's a 1/3rd of our total spend on defence and a 1/9 of what we spend on the NHS so it's not Sky money it's a game changer

Amazon are cunts and all the fucking rockets and spacey stuff in the world won't change that.

Drones delivering parcels my arse.

They can't even deliver an ounce of skunk into Forest Bank.

Funny how the remainers go off on a tangent when faced with a set of facts and posts that make a mockery of us staying in the EU.

Did anyone watch that Premiership show on BBC 2? What a pile of wank, and Gabby Logan isn't ageing very well imo...

I think we get a fairer distribution of money across the country from EU money. I'm not sure a London government in control of all the pot will be as kind. Just my thoughts though.

For every reasoned gent like the above Brexit was also backed by a grey marl and Reebok Classic clad hoodlum, most of whom were using their ballot for the first time ever, marching down the polling station and using their clumsy paws to mark an X or leave an inked thumbprint for 'leave' under the mistaken belief that the next day any dusky (to them) undesirables would be frogmarched to the nearest port and dumped on the first floating thing leaving for overseas.

Oh, so it wasn't 'thick, racist owd cunts' then? Fuck me, we must be reading different scripts.

And who actually gives a fuck is another one.

???? Everyone should????

You expect value for money in every other walk of life don't you?

https://fullfact.org/europe/our-eu-membership-fee-55-million/

So as always - it's open to interpretation as to whether out contribution is a worthwhile investment. I'd say it is (or at least it was) - others might disagree.

What I don't understand is why wanting to stay in the EU is being perceived as an act of cowardice and somehow a betrayal of what our forefathers fought for. In my eyes the EU IS what they fought for. Peace amongst nations and discourse rather than tanks settling disputes.

I've never felt the EU impacting negatively on anything I've wanted to do in life. Quite the opposite in fact. I've certainly never felt oppressed by it. It's always felt largely benign to me.

You are missing the point. The EU has become a political experiment in which German, and to a lesser extent French influence has become far too great. Britain leaving the club is an annoying embarrassment to them which they fear may light the fires of independence in others amongst the 27 with the potential to further reduce their influence and prosperity,

This is where the analogy with the Second World War comes in. At that time they were looking to conquer militarily. This time they are seeking to conquer monetarily. Benign my arse.

Once again the beacon of freedom has been lit by the UK.

If it goes wrong, I'll admit it, Youri

Tell me, how come you love Corbyn, who has been opposed to our membership of the EU forever?

He just loves the song.

Altogether now "Ooooh Jeremy, Corbyn, Ooooh, Jerem......"  Feeling nauseous now.

Funny how the remainers go off on a tangent when faced with a set of facts and posts that make a mockery of us staying in the EU.

Birch answered the facts, there was no need for any more.

And besides, bloody hell mounts, in the old days we'd have a lemon party pics and some tits posted by now :D

I've honestly never heard it...

If I was doing a Corbyn chant I'd appropriate 'Jimmy, Jimmy' by The Undertones, replacing 'Jimmy' either with a fastly sung 'Jeremy' or simply 'Jezza'.

Do you or anyone really think it will all go on the NHS? Or defence? Or education ?

It is a lot of money but it is 2% so just about covers inflation

Let's be honest in next few years that saving will be eaten up and more by the costs of getting out. Most brexiters seem to accept that there would be at least short term negative impact of leaving. ( nowhere near as severe as remain claimed but an impact). By the time we are out there will bo so many moving parts in the world economy it will be impossible to say what the impact has been.

So the arguement is only really that we have control of our own destiny. Given the shambles the Tories are in during the negotiations and the obvious manoeuvrings of the likes of Gove and Boris a potential knock effect of this is a government led by a coalition of Corbyn and Jimmy Krankie. I sit here thinking how have we got into a position of such uncertainty that that outcome is a possibility ?

Neither Boris or Gove would pump money into NHS. Corbyn would spend all money on pay rises at the behest of the Unions so spend on services won't happen.

So for all the brexiters what is the price you are prepared to pay for leaving 5 years of Corbyn running the government ?

It astonishes me how happy people are to drum our country down.

Our history, and current history, demonstrates our qualities; why wouldn't we continue to be successful?

Your scenario is very scary, but I can't see any of it happening

To have control of our own destiny is IMO the greatest thing to fight for, the EU is a busted flush

You say the Tories are a shambles, let's have a look at the EU, Angela Merkel, the so called most powerful politican in Europe, only 30% of Germans voted for her, after 2weeks she still hasn't formed a government yet, she still trying to bribe smaller parties to support her, strong and stable? So what's Germany's policy on Brexit?

Macron in France was elected but didn't have a party? We are well shut of this madness

You're nightmare of Corbyn & Sturgeon will never happen, Corbyn has come as close to power as he ever will, by the time of the next GE comes around they both will be finished

I think we get a fairer distribution of money across the country from EU money. I'm not sure a London government in control of all the pot will be as kind. Just my thoughts though.

I agree. That was why it amazed me that places like Wales voted out. They have received more money than they contributed from the EU.

On that subject, oh source of all deviant knowledge. I saw a banner at an NFL game last weekend saying "Melon Party'.

No doubt some thruster on here will soon label you moonman. For me, you speak the most common sense since the sad departure of Smiffs and Maggie Tate.

I believe you are spot on about Corbyn. He reached his zenith with the fawning support of the personality cult builders at the last election and I am convinced his star will wane. He and his sidekick are absolute poison and I repeat my opinion that no sane Brit would vote for IRA supporting communists.

A party where people eat melon.

What were you thinking of you sicko? :)

My recurring fantasy. A buxom Latina in a revealing PVC fishermans outfit complete with Sou'wester, smeared in malt and cod liver oil for added effect. Grrr.....
