If I had £6k to blow I'd happily pay it just to shoot at the fuckers who get enjoyment out of shooting defenceless animals.

Agree 100%. Never been my bag that.

I know its off topic but grouse/pheasant shooting is part of a big industry, with the birds being destined for the table. Grab one from Bolton or bury market and you'll often get a pellet.

The birds have more "defense" than an animal in an abattoir- they can fly away (albeit unlikely).

The income this generates goes a long way to managing some wonderful countryside.

Some nasty game keepers out there, admittedly, but all industries have an unscrupulous element.

I get what you're saying, I just think anyone who gets a kick out of killing an animal has something wrong with him.

Spot on. Never understood it. If you have to eat then fair enough but just for the sake of it?

Because it's late and I'm bored before turning in, where do you lie on fishing? Not angling (?) where you catch it and throw it back, but where you keep it and eat it (but not because you NEED to eat it, but just because you want to)?

Erm, dunno, fishing is a funny one. I'd say it's still probably a no from me. I did it once, sea fishing in Goa and caught a puffa fish. I was quite excited as the guide helped me reel it into the boat ... however what happened next has stayed with me ever since. As he was trying to drag the hook out of the poor little fella's mouth it was screaming. No one ever told me fish screamed! The guide then proceeded to pull half of this fish's face off as he finally removed the hook and then just threw it back into the sea.

He then tapped me on the back and said well done. I was mortified. I'll never do it again.

Slightly different subject but did you see that bloke in the South West yesterday who went to kiss a Dover Sole and the fucker jumped down his throat and nearly choked him?

I'm not in favour of fishing either don't tell me that hook does not cause excruciating pain and on many occasions the removal of the hook must result in the fish being killed. I suppose I'm a hypocrite as I eat fish and meat but at least it's hopefully humanely killed.

Kent once posted some info about whether fish feel pain.

This business re hunting/shooting- septics just blamming wild cats etc for the sake of it is just sick.

Blokes shooting birds bred for the table- fine. They've got to be killed one way or another; as humanely as possible, I think being shot is probably better than being captured and nobbled in a factory farm type way.

Society is now heavily based on farming of one type or another; this still requires someone to kill the creature.

Hopefully we can utilise the situation to prevent cheap, poorer quality meat getting through and support British produce often raised to a higher standard.

Did anyone see the plane with the banner flying over the ground today?

Tbought it might be a parky out banner at first but of all things it was advertising this website regards animal abuse

If we were always in control of our own destiny, laws etc, why is it proving so difficult to exit the EU?

why is it proving so difficult to exit the EU?

Is it because the people negotiating the withdrawal are incompetent?

Is it because the people negotiating the withdrawal are incompetent?

No it's not it's because the idiots in Europe need our money and won't talk until they've attempted to milk us for every penny they can.

If we were always in control of our own destiny, laws etc, why is it proving so difficult to exit the EU?

You could say...

We're in control of our transport, why is HS2 proving so difficult, new Heathrow runway etc - nothing to do with the EU

We're in control of our own energy production, why is fracking so difficult, Nuclear policy etc

The list goes on

It could be global, European, domestic or local government and it's going to be a drawn out process, it's just how it is

People are carrying on like we are going to turn into some sort of super slick operation when we come out of the EU. I can't think of anything that our national or local governments have ever done fast, involving the EU or not, no reason for that to change in or out

I'm not sure, we need Maggie Tate to come back, as he reckoned it would and could all be done in around 2 weeks

You should just have left it there.

There was a really frank and interesting interview with Hillary Clinton on the Andrew Marr show this morning. Worth a watch if you've an interest.

I'll leave the arguments about Hillary aside - but Andrew Marr is peerless for me.

Those examples aren't issues of law, indeed its because of laws that they take so long.

I agree that sometimes we take too long, however its because of the potential impact on people that we have enquiries etc.

Plenty of places like China for example just flatten houses to make way for roads with barely a glance at those it might affect.

Not sure if things will speed up once out, time will tell

The reason it's taking so long to leave the EU is also a question of Law

Nothing to do with the fact that we are in control of our own destiny (or not as some believe)

It's just process like everything else, can't be done in a fortnight, no matter what some folk may think

Going seeing her tonight, any questions you want me to ask?

Why did she waste her time canvassing to women students rather than visiting the rustbelt states a lot more?

He's a bit lefty for my tastes

I bet that'll be really interesting mate. I'm about to start a night shift!

Ask her if she thinks Bolton have enough quality to avoid the drop?
