If we're going to play this game, then why did no one help me and all the others, which would have been assisted by spending the vast European contributions in this land? Just kept quiet and waited for the opportunity to do something about it, in a legitimate vote.

Boby Brno
I’ve mentioned on here before about Hick Hargreaves manufacturing move to the Czech Republic which I was heavily involved with. We have a reunion every year and we had an interesting discussion at the last one which involved the possibility of it coming back to the UK because of Brexit. For what it’s worth, the chances are about zero. Still, there was no doubt that for many ex employees, the ease of relocating to another EU country was responsible for the closure of a company founded in 1833 and influenced their voting in the referendum. We lose our jobs to these EU nations then send them more money via the EU contributions. Remainers Turkeys voting for Xmas

Remainers Turkeys voting for Xmas That was one of my major issues. Not a level playing field. If it was just within nations at a similar economic status like us, Germany, France, benelux, then freedom of movement and work is a two way street. As it is, and moreso was, considerably poorer economies have benefited disproportionately. As a result the EU has shot itself in the foot. Who knows how things will develop. I’ll take my chance, no more money to the EU and invest it in our country to build our technology and manufacturing base, rather paying our competitors and then exporting our jobs to them to rub salt in the wound. Czech Republic had associate membership from 1995. In 1999, the decision to move the machine shop and it’s machines was made for three reasons . 1 Cheap labour. 2 EU grants to our parent company for relocating the business to CZ 3 The sale of the land to Sainsbury’s for 8 million. The first machines were removed from Bolton and installed in CZ in 1999. I was there.
