Sluffy Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Parky doesn’t seem the type to risk youngsters into his team so I don't think we'll see many coming through anytime soon Would that be the same Parky who played a twenty year old in 34 of our games this season? (Antonee Robinson in case you're wondering). Quote

Mate we all know who the 20yr old is there’s no point referencing him each time you want to make the point The debate or certainly mine isn’t that Parkinson doesn’t play youngsters but for the record it’s slightly easier to play a 20yr old on loan from a top 8 premier league side than it is to play one of your own from the U23s (but that’s another discussion) My point time and time again is there MUST be opportunities over the coming weeks to give one or two of these successful U23 players a chance to find out if they can cut it at this level? We could argue night and day about whether Hall deserved a spot on the bench last season some will say yes some will say no and that’s fine But moving in to a new season, clean slate you would hope Parkinson is saying to them “show me what you can do, this is your opportunity” or words to that effect? And I don’t think looking at it like that, anyone could have an issue with it Quote
Eavesy Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Tyler walker or one of our own? Keshi Anderson or one of our own? Solomon otobor or one of our own? Chris Long or one of our own? Quote

And I don’t think looking at it like that, anyone could have an issue with it The issue is that, by all accounts, the staff who work with these players day in - day out & see every game that they play, say that they are not ready to step up to the 1st team squad. You mentioned Samizadeh............who proved the point that the club staff know more about the u23's / u18's than someone who has never seen them play & couldn't pick them out in a line up, but "reckons " they should be in the 1st team. I do wonder why if a player is standing out in the u23's but not considered ready for the 1st team squad, - like Hall - he isn't sent out on loan to a higher level Div 1/2 club to see how he goes on, but i'm still happy to let the club make that decision. passmosster Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 I've seen the u23s a bit this season. Would have given Hall a place on the bench to create a bit of energy up front e.g in the Birmingham game. More to the point he's a natural finsher. King likewise when the midfield was being overrun. Quote
Casino Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 king is a strange case, to be fair he looked very close to getting a go then didnt Quote

But having them in and around the squad, place on the bench is far different than having them in there full time. we struggled for goals all season, within that there were those opportunities to blood Hall in. we signed Odabasi on a pay as you play and were willing to wait weeks and weeks for him to get fit. what was his impact? nothing. thats how desperate we were for an additional option to ALF & Wilbraham. in those games where we struggled and needed goals instead of PP scratching his head and thinking ive played my two only options here and still having no joy what further negative couldve happened with putting Hall in there? absolutely nothing! if he did have the opportunity and did piss all with it, like Eaves previously then at least everyone could have said "well he tried but hes obviously not good enough". But, his sheer presence in there could of helped and you never know one could of fallen to him, he tucks it away and off he goes our academy isnt a conveyor belt for lower league teams without giving the players an opportunity. again i stress, not all of them but the best of that bunch could of at times been given a glimmer of a chance Edited May 18, 2018 by barrycowdrill Quote

At the time the thought was, play ALF as he's our best finisher, have Wilbraham on the bench if we need to change it up. Hall didn't figure because in Parky's eyes he was too similar to ALF. Ultimately if as a manager you don't think the player will make an impact you don't put him on the bench. What we found out at the end was probably we'd have been better off playing Wilbraham more often and using ALF as an impact sub. Quote

enzo gambaro Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Hall might well have gone on loan if we’d had more options up front. As it was, ready for the first team or not, he was probably only one injury away from a regular place on the bench. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Ken and parky in a big meeting today according to the bn. Development players have to be sorted today apparently. Maybe some news later of tomorrow. If it's owt bad it will be tomorrow during the wedding! Quote
Ani Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 I think throwing kids into the struggle we were in would have been tough. If we had won the Brum game and Barnsley would have been interesting to see what happened. There is a rumour over here that Oli McBurnie fell out with Parky when at Bradford as he did not give youth players a fair run. Not sure if anything in it. Quote
Ani Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Whatever the views on being ready for the first team if he was miles off why pull him from u23 play off final ? Quote

If we'd started ALF then he was going to be on the bench with Wilbraham. But since Wilbraham started they felt it was a waste of a spot as Parky didn't believe he'd put both him and ALF on. Decision to start Wilbraham was taken the day before the game. Edited May 18, 2018 by bwfcfan5 Quote
Carlos Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 We don't know, maybe ALF has a slight injury, maybe Parky isn't risking it, we aren't here to win U23 cups, ultimately. No one gives a shit, in 20 years people will ask how many first team games you played, nothing else. Quote
Ani Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 My point being that if he was being considered for bench he can not have been miles off. Carlos if you thinking winning an U23 cup for a pro club will be forgotten in 20 years can you explain why my MOM performances for the wandererways whenonrivals first 11 are remberred so fondly ? Even then it was ultimately decided he wasn't. Give the lad a loan somewhere in the lower leagues next season can always recall him in January if he does well. Quote
