We were on the other side of the canal earlier, on the cam's lane farm fields.

Didn't cover 5 miles though.

Go there regularly, easy place to give all three a good run. Plenty of room to avoid folk, and pools for them to have a dip in.

Farmer had liberally applied cow shit to the first field, which was interesting.

Drink more water you say? Fuck me I think I need a catheter, I can't keep away from the toilet!

FML. That’s some going!!! Got my first official one in April - hoping for 3:30 - 3:45. Should be on a 16 week training plan. Which is now 12 weeks (with a week in Fuerteventura all-inc and 9 days in Barbados at the cricket included in this!). But still injured, so can’t run at all. Might have to wing it on the day!!

I was a whippet when younger, ran for Leigh Harriers for many years, used to love athletics

Doing a marathon knocks two years off your life expectancy - fact.

It’s true. Your heart has a given amount of beats to do between birth and death. All hearts have the same number of beats so if you’re a hummingbird, with a beats-per-minute of around 300, your life expectancy is around 10 years. An elephant, with a beats-per-minute of 30 can expect to live 100 years.
A human has a heart rate of 60-70 and expects to live around 80 years unless they shorten their life expectancy by increasing their heart rate.

The Lancet (Dec 1979)

Blue whales live for 80-90 years, with a heart rate between 2 and 37 bpm.

Laid back fuckers.

Gravel rash from bumming?

Aye but my heart rate increases with ale and drugs, so it's either that or running..

Anyway having a beer tonight as its been shit today.

Poof!

Gave my Achilles a test run today. Did the local Park Run and broke my PB. 20:25. Windy a feck as well. Smashed a full English when I got home, then a pie at the match followed by a full roast dinner at the in-laws!

Hairy Dieters minced beef pies tonight. Won’t lie, one of my proudest achievements. 675 calories for the lot.

Hell of a time that well done. Only ever got my PB down to 21:44, with regular training too

You don't die because you run out of heartbeats you run out of heartbeats because you die. There isn’t a counter.

Exercise doesn’t decrease your heart rate if anything it makes it stronger and decreases your resting heart rate so your circulation system doesn’t need to work as much

Also Elephants live to about 70

It's the cortisol release after about twelve miles - we're not Kalahari bushmen chasing down Springbok. Look at folk who run long distances regularly - they look more paggared than a 'spoons pisspot. Running for longer than an hour is pretty futile. Look at that Nell McAndrew - she's done loads and looks haggard now. Gordon Ramsay has done loads and he's still got chippy tits.

Knock yourself out running for hours if you want to be hobbling around with fucked knees and hips like Clive Dunn at sixty.

Longevity is pretty much dictated by your genes anyway.
