just get rid, and start again. with the exception of connell (if thats even an option)

im not a fan of loanees either. do they really care enough when the time is tough?

Im thinking current youth players could compete in this league if we keep hold of them, couple of them have been out on loan in the football league so some have league football experience. As well as Tom Eaves who has been mentioned look at Threlkeld as well who thrived at Plymouth.

Wouldn’t be opposed to a total clearout. Can’t see Connell staying with the rumours that have been flying about through the season.

My argument with the loanees is that at least it gives us higher quality players for a season where we really need them and in their mind they don’t have to stick around after if it goes tits up, so in some ways that’s kind of freeing for them.  Although I suppose you can argue they would care less being a loanee.

Is there any negotiation on the transfer embargo? What are the exact restrictions? Frees and loans allowed but no fees? Permission required for each deal?

Think that could be the biggest hurdle, you can stay up/ do well with a point deduction if you can recruit well. If we have loads of restrictions and no squad to begin with it will be a huge struggle.

Feeder club for City, we’ll be fine

I predict quite abit of bother next season. If we’re getting dicked by bury or Blackpool or even fucking trashmere and their fans are given it the big one. Frustration bound to boil over. Our points total may be low but our arrests rate won’t be.

No chance of Connell staying, and I’d imagine we’d get very little compensation given he’s never had a professional contract.

Get rid of the lot and start again. Could be a great opportunity for a (lunatic) manager.

I think any of our remaining players would like to see some sort of financial stability before they'd commit to another season with us.

That's going to be hard to do in 12 weeks.

Dont want to piss on anyones parade but the players recruited are very likely to be worse than the ones going out the door , fact of life .Back to the eighties.

I’ll be honest. The two Everton kids looked like they cared a lot more than some of the more established  players

I think after this season a lot of fans have now been lost, - 12 or even worse I'd think we'd be lucky to have 5k on for the first home game. Not sure what we are doing yet, I'm going to cancel the DD and see what happens. The youngest lad has completely gave up and I can't blame him. I've been going for over 45 years and atm I really can't be arsed with anymore of this shit. That might change as the season draws near but its going to have to be some positive news to get me back on board.

Be interesting to see what new owners will budget for in terms of crowds.

Aye, I think you're right.  Right now though, I'm just glad that it looks like we'll have a team to support in August.

If it's like back to the 80s then it's good away followings with low expectations.  I can manage that for a couple of seasons.  If we're not 3 up in the first 10 minutes of game 1 of the 2022/23 season though,  I'm going to start booing the feckers again

Not concerned about who we sign in terms of quality. Need attitude to fight for the club.

A bit of positivity from new owners, not necessarily splashing cash, but creating a good atmosphere around the place and a bit of a siege mentality and I reckon fans will get behind it.

Been a few seasons of doom recently, apart from the promotion year, and we just want something to unite behind.

Anderson being fucked off should be the start.

Generally speaking our loanees since dropping out of the Premier League have included some of the better players we've had in that time.

Dawson, the Juke, Ameobi, Le Fondre.

I don't think anyone's thinking that far ahead. It's all 'as long as Parky's gone it'll be ok' or slagging the existing players for their performances this season and looking forward to getting shut of them.  I get the frustration but it seems desperately short sighted.

Think about what kind of player is going to go to the skint basket case club that didn't pay its players, didn't fulfil its fixtures and couldn't pay to keep the training ground open and is now on -12 points? We may struggle to get the calibre of loan player too.

Be careful what you wish for.

thats a fair point

i suppose it'll all depend on who's in charge when we come out of all this as to who we can expect to attract as manager and then what caliber of players etc

Barring the last time we were in League One, we've probably got one of the worst records in England over the past decade.

One of the young lads here needed some practise with grabbing data and pivot tables and the like and he tells me that out of 106 clubs who have played league football in the last 10 seasons we have the 98th worst points per game and the 97th worst wins/games ratio.

He might well be wrong as he's a Blackburn fan and I'd be happy to pot him if he's made us look worse than we really are.

We were in a transfer embargo the last time we were in League 1 and still ended up with a pitch invasion.

Not saying this time will be comparable in terms of squad or who we could attract, but things can be done whilst in that embargo. Need to be shrewd, flexible and lucky.

Howard, do you think there’s any chance that the “intent” to appoint an administrator is just more time wasting? Or is this the end to the conspiracy theories and we should have administrators in the next 10 days as a certainty?

Even if we reach admin, I fear that as you are saying, FV or whichever interested party is around doesn’t have enough money to even get us out of admin and the business will have to be wound down by the administrator.

Don’t want to be doom and gloom but also don’t want to just accept administration as a fact given all the previous misleading claims.

There’s no real gain in doing so, it’s part of the formal administration process. There are no new bidders on a solvent sale and they wouldn’t have time to complete DD.

It’s just formality.

Every player we sign is effectively on loan, its just some are for 1 season (Williams, Widschut, Wheater) and some for 2 (Oz, Olkowski, McGennis, Buckley). Makes no difference does it?

'Far Eastern investors' sounds more glamorous than 'bankrupt fantasist from East London', but there's nothing to suggest that when it came to it they weren't just tyre kickers/time-wasters also.

I'll take something credible and sustainable, with Bolton fans involved, than hail mary shots with shady foreign investors.

They were credible, but again, there are certain regions of the world with religious caveats that prohibit the purchase of distressed assets, likewise certain countries have trade rules relating to outward investment.
