April 29, 20197 yr Mark Connolly, cost a cool £1m when money was no object... If my memory serves McEnespie was really impressive on his debut.

Lived in Atherton near Howe Bridge. Keen BW fan, used to bump into him buying the BEN in the 90s. Sadly died too young a few years ago. I didn't see him much for us but watched him play for Bury around 1983, he really stood out, real class on the ball.

Remember being sat in traffic on Deansgate in Manchester with the bird at the time. Pulled up in traffic next to us was a white golf GTI with roof down tunes blaring and full of lads. Girlfriend muttered what a set of knobs, mcanespie was driving thinking he was on another level.

May 1, 20197 yr Hazy memory of Smith being right footed then stuck out left one game in front of the paddock Left foot swinger floated in to the lever end goal
May 6, 20197 yr Gretar steinsson was amazing for us there was a story going about that he lived in a garage before he became a footballer and that some kid he saw in subway on the reebok loved him , so Gretar went back to his car and gave him his boots whatever he was a class act for us Edited May 6, 20197 yr by Mona
May 6, 20197 yr Fyi He then joined premier league club Everton in December 2018 as Chief European Scout, after nearly 4 years at Fleetwood Town.[142][141] As part of his duties at Everton, Grétar scouts players in the lower tiers of English football.[141]

May 7, 20197 yr I was trying to think of names I remembered from the late 70s and who seemed to drop off the radar. At that time when we had Taddy Nowack, we also had some connection with the similar sounding Yan Nowacki, who was supposed to be rising star. Don't know if he actually fully played for the first team, but we must have had some connection as I remember the coincidence with Taddy's name. Bit of searching though indicates things were a bit more unfortunate... https://www.itv.com/news/2016-11-28/ex-youth-footballer-fears-he-may-have-been-one-of-barry-bennells-first-victim-in-early-1970s/
May 7, 20197 yr Think Jan Nowacki was a couple of years earlier. Can't remember ever seeing him play, but he was in the list of players that used to be inside the back cover of the old programmes, so may have got a subs appearance (or unused sub) here or there. If I remember, I'll have a rummage through some old programmes see what tips up (google didn't help).

He was a reserve team regular Pretty sure the rothmans of the time had him as ex filth Don't think he ever played The next young winger was Craig moores, who again didn't make it Pretty sure he was actually selected for a home game that was postponed about 2.30
May 18, 20197 yr Gary Martindale was top scorer in reserves when the won the league, thought he'd make it but never happened. Macanespie was shagging a girl I went to school with when he played for us. Heard he was a tool sounds like they were right reading stories on here. Stuart Whitaker was a good shout. I thought delroy facey was going to be class, shows what I know.
May 18, 20197 yr Everyone of our squad this season. The shit cunts! Vaz Te was tipped as the new Eusebio FFS. Haha. That goal in Guimaraes, don't remember it on the day but it was good watching it back a few weeks later!
