Next manager

Assuming we survive, who’s the man?

David Lee would be my choice, based largely on the fact he’ll be cheap, keen and a fan favourite.

Keith Hill, Nobby are 2 others being mooted.

Before we got Rioch I wanted Dario Gradi. I think we should go for him, as we need some better PR.

Just heard from The Bantry Club on Derby St, that a well known local sauce company have been successful in their bid, with the proviso that the new manager plays five up front. It’s a clear case

  • Young, English manager. Took Notts County to the play offs in the league we are potentially going to be in next year. 42% win ratio from his 99 games in charge, and he’s available! Forgetting his

Where in Bolton is he from?

Not sure but he went to Canon Slade.

Lives on Bradshaw Road now apparently.

Good choice. Delighted they've moved quickly and decisively.

David went to Turton as has been said .

keith has a look of traf about him ??

“Keeef Hills super white army” has a nice ring to it. We’re heading lower leagues, then we’re heading back up. Looking forward to it TBH.

I feel exactly the same as I did when Allardyce got appointed. I was only 10 and had no idea who he was, despite knowing he played for us and had done a good job elsewhere. I was gutted that Phil Brown didn’t get the job after a good caretaker record. However I was cautiously optimistic.

Gutted Nolan didn’t get it, yet I’m cautiously optimistic again. Another step towards solidarity and rebuilding. Excited for the next chapter.

Not the slightest bit unhappy about this

We are now officially back

COYWM!!!!

Definite thumbs up from me.

I think this is the correct appointment for our current situation and the high likelihood of League 2 next season. It feels like the right fit with what seems like the homespun approach of Football Ventures. Hill won't have had fortunes to spend, he'll know how to scout lower leagues for good players, he knows the League 1 and League 2 scene very well, he plays good football and he's twice had a promotion from League 2. I hope everyone will be patient with them. We need to build slowly towards next Summer when we can seriously start building a club with momentum again.

Might change the signings strategy over the next 48 hours if any of Hill's former players/favourites are out of contract or otherwise available.

Hill or Nobby for me. I'm happy with the choice COYFWM!

Not sure but probably the best we could have got in our current position.

Very happy with Hill and Flitcroft. Living in Rochdale now seen them quite a few times when he was in charge. Tries to play it on the deck and will get players going out knowing exactly what's expected of them. Might even get a tune out out Buckley again if he gets signed.

When you think some very quick decisions need taking on Monday re who to sign on loan etc it’s probably right that someone with experience is taking them.

11 are done allegedly

Will he have them running up Rivi with rucksacks full of bricks?

We had about that number ready to sign before season. Not sure how many of those are still there now. Surely Hill will want a say?

Who knows but again that’s come from Flitcroft today so they’re obviously aware

we will only see in time if Hill is happy with them all

Not his choices then...

On paper, a sensible appointment. Definitely “old-school” in his managerial approach but has a decent record in the lower leagues, will have plenty of contacts and knowledge about players at this level, and has a reputation for playing a pleasing style of football.

My only concern is that when poor results put him under pressure at Rochdale, he was prone to publicly criticising supporters. If pressure can do that to him there, then it certainly can here, and I hope he's learned and is ready to deal with that.

However, now that he's in he obviously has my full support and I wish him well. There will definitely be a couple more familiar accents around the place.

He might have been working behind the scenes for a while?

If it’s come from Flitcroft I assume Hill has ok’d it. Think we’ve only got 12 spots in the squad limit.

Hill did sign Clough....

Any idea how long they are contracted for?

Sensible deal would be to end of season.

Happy with Hillcroft.

Strategy not sentiment.

They tick the boxes we need as pointed out above.

Might even get a tune out of Buckley.
