Read all 46 pages of this thread last night.  Rang doctors first thing this morning, and got GP appointment.  Now hooked up with referral to a couple of support services.  You don't know me, but

🤣🤣. One of our lads had a similar losing the plot experience in Benidorm. Far too many pills. Ended up with me being woken up to come and take look at him. Sat in corner of the room with a ridiculous look on his face muttering under his breath calling everyone cunts.  Who’s a cunt? They are. Dirty cunts. no sense whatsoever. Next thing he’s up and saying he’s going to sort it out. So we all follow along and he goes to a mini market  round the corner and starts going through the oranges in a box. Takes a few to the counter and starts telling the guy behind the till he knows what he’s done . We had no idea what he was on about. He proceeded to tell the guy that he knew they had Been siphoning the juice out of them and he knew it involved microwave ovens. He didn’t quite know how they had done it but he was onto them. We had to drag him out before he smacked the shop keeper 😃

When he got home he was that bad his missus took him to the hospital. Proper blew a fuse. That was about 15 years ago and to this day he’s never spoke to any of us since and has never fully recovered. Soft cunt

I love stories like this.

My mate had an episode at Glastonbury similar... I wasn't there but he'd smuggled his pills in in a suncream bottle that contaminated the bag, still had them all.

He was rifling through tents trying to find the voices! 🤣

He didn't last the weekend before he got picked up.

I genuinely miss those days.

my own worst one was in Amsterdam. I ended up being found under my bed hiding as I thought the pigeons in dam square were undercover coppers after me for smuggling my bing over apparently.  Thankfully it was our last nights when I lost it. Wasn’t right for about a week after.

I had a grim evening in Amsterdam. I had to be escorted out of one bar when I became convinced every other person in there was carrying a concealed machine gun and they were waiting to shoot me at any second.

Mate though it might calm me down if I had a big slab of space cake at a nearby cafe.

It didn’t and I ended up in a wank booth for about half an hour because I thought emptying my bollocks would make me better.

Just say no fellas. It turns you all into fucking lunatics.

As Smiffs used to say on here, 'I'd rather snort fag ash'. Wise words going by some of the stories on this thread 🤣

Aye it’s where I’m at

40 years ago at school, then uni, I used to do the usual Red Leb and Black Moroccan but after doing a degree in Pharmacology and entering the Pharma industry I swerved away from it

Just seen far too much through work and family for me to ever be interested. Not for me. Never has been. For every funny story, and fuck me there are some belters, there’s marriages gone, houses repossessed and funerals that I’ve been to. My favourite ever job was when I used to visit the psych ward at the old Withington Hospital that housed the drug dependency patients. Fuck me. Visiting Winwick Hospital after that was like going to a retirement home

Currently going through a really shit situation with the BiL. Chasing the dragon. Weed, then pills, always coke, now this. Very, very sad. Too many folk affected

That said I know many who’ve cracked on, having a laugh, and no adverse effect on their lives so I’ll never preach about it, just not for me

Ditto.

Saying that, some of the prescribed stuff is enough!

I understand that, and have had a mate go through rehab and seen the stress it put on his family. However, the exact same thing can be said for alcohol. Some people will always have a problem with not knowing when to stop with drink too, that would be at the top of the banned substance list if it was invented tomorrow, its just historical acceptance that allows it. Everything in moderation (well, maybe not everything) IMO. Help folk that need it absolutely, but don't stop the rest of us having a bit of fun.

My thoughts anyway, fwiw. That said, I'm currently on my second spliff of lemon haze for the evening, so may be a biased opinion 😁

Yep. I’ve done a bottle of Malbec tonight and having a rhubarb and ginger gin and tonic (hello sailor) to finish the night off. I’ve got an “off switch”. Many folk don’t. Some folk like me it helps to chill after a long and fucking hard week. Some it doesn’t and they release on it and the mental health kicks in. Booze, drugs, whatever. I’ll never criticise or say you shouldn’t do summat. I’d rather help those that need it like you say and let others crack on and enjoy

If alcohol was invented today it would be criminalised before it had left the docks and given a rating higher than heroin.

Its pretty mad such an addictive, destructive, unhealthy intoxicant is so part of all our lives and culture.

Ace stuff like dont get me wrong. Just mad how its so acceptable and other newer substances arent.

Do we think alcohol will get the cig treatment eventually - no advertisement allowed and plain packing with the exception of possibly some colourful cirrhosis and pissed car wreckage images?

Special Brew have already started.

They put a picture of Gonzo and Youri on the side.

Step lad is at uni and I find it amazing they barely drink anymore. I think the boozing is dying out a little bit with the youngens. I don’t think it will need the cig treatment per say

Yeah, the 20 year olds at work dont drink in the same we we did - or indeed do. The old school media lunches are just a load of 40/50 year old going on about print, and the decline in income. The youngsters are down the gym at lunchtime and before work. They want jobs that they believe in, benefits not so much wage (they can't pay off their uni fees, fuck all chance of owning a home until their folks die, get married later in life, so just want enough to live their life now)

Gen X is the last of the real booze generation, those coming up behind just see it as unhealthy and a bit sad to get wasted. Plus, drinking in pubs in city centres is really expensive - you need to be older and have money to do it properly!

They’ll see the light eventually.

Once the spunk-driven dramatics of youth subside, they’ll realise that we were right all along, and be hitting the grog with thirsty relish by their 30’s.

Unless cocaine is ever legalised and they can spend their ill gotten sheckles on Brave New World type government-issued narcotics.

The brewers will catch their prey, one way or the other.

I'd like to say you're right but its all smoothies and professionalism. I think its also because the workplace is far more competitive for youngsters than 20 odd years ago. They'll work for nowt just to get through the door.

Clearly haven’t been on bradhsawgate on a Saturday night NIC or in Edinburgh or Glasgow on a weekend. It’s carnage. Full of ale and drugs. Cocaine use up here is higher than its ever been and a a large proportion of those in the 18-25 range out and about will be on it.

Clearly a southern thing this clean living non drinking lifestyle.

To be fair, they’ll need to have clear heads and the right attitude to deal with the massive shitty dump their elders are currently overseeing.

Remember, they’re having to pay all this money back 😁

Biggest mistake I used to make with the little fellas was drinking loads before em. Always a bad move that.

Why I always ended up monged and talking broken biscuits :D

Had some crazy episodes on them from getting a random girl in a headlock in cream to simple stuff like putting my hand on peoples heads thinking they were big posts on a hand rail.

Forever putting drinks down on tables that werent there, drinking my phone or a fag.

Seeing giant netting type mesh all over the DJ booth at creamfields, stsrted off a little bit then it was like the whole stage was draped in netting.

Red dots on peoples faces another common one, people thinking people were tiny.

Monged out at after parties talking aboht coats in the work van, string lines, old work collegues. Neck giroing and gurning, gridning teeth. Did it so much once it pinged a crown out.

Great times :D
