One of which is huge: Renault starting at £57000+. I'll have 2!! All require charging with a lead of some sort, with a range of charging times. Hopefully, more manufacturers will bring them out, but the only one I can see that might be available soon is the e-vito by mercedes. That's not going to be cheap neither. Government is going to need to encourage manufacturers to allow payments over longer time frames to encourage shifting. Bit like when mobile phones first came out - there was a massive leap forward with each iteration - which slows down quite a lot over time. The electric cars being built now are like the brick style mobile phones. Give it a decade and they'll be cheaper, more accessible and we'll be wondering why everyone doesn't have one. I think you should set fire to a big barrel of hairspray and blame XR IMO the folk on the streets are completely different from those smashing Maccy Ds at G8 summits. They're not anarchists, they're not rioting, they're not wearing masks and not smashing shit up for starters. You only need to delve behind the daily mail headlines, very selective photo's and youtube vloggers to see that the majority of folk on the streets are perfectly normal people who've taken time off from work or education to be there. The idea that this issue is another thing to get fucked up and riot about couldn't be further from the truth. Of course there are your usual hippy types there as well but if you look at some of the statements from 'anarchist' groups online, you will find that they don't generally agree with XR. That's why they've grown so much as movement because they aren't made up of your usual types. For every photo you show me of a dreadlocked hippy dancing, I could show you ten of a farmer ,a doctor, a nurse or a teacher. Love or hate XR (I'm somewhere in the middle) there is no doubting for me that they have pushed the climate crisis up the political agenda. Most importantly, they have raised awareness that governments are drastically failing its citizens. That's not to say it has all been them. Youth climate strikes and David Attenbrough have played their part as well. I'm not saying your not alienated by them and I think that's shame. Of course they alienate plenty of people. But they are mobilising more than they are alienating. A poll after the April Rebellion showed that for the majority of the population, the climate crisis was the number one issue.
