The Owners

Deatils of the new owners/lenders to Football Ventures starting to emerge on Companies House website this morning..

The model appears to be up to half a dozen people putting money in.  It feels more stable to me than being in hock to one person.  If one drops out it should be easier to find another one willing to put in a few million rather than buying a whole club.

A Derby winner still in training over fences at the age of 42, ridden by an 85yo amateur jockey who’s yet to ride under rules? I just don’t see it.

Just say no, kids.

Tobias Phoenix (power name) confirmed head of football operations

Just shows the level we are at the moment

To be fair, trying to be Billy Bigbollocks is why we are where we are

Also these people have to start somewhere. No different with some players. But I would say Clearly more so in management and other off field roles.

let’s reserve judgement on the guy til we at least here him speak

Off-field recruitment from outside of the 'jobs for the boys' circle can't be a bad thing.

I actually like the idea of a committee or panel so we don’t just end up buying off palace (freedman) Bradford (PP) or Rochdale (KH) interested to see how this pans out. Surely the key is picking up players who can help us short term and long term sell on for value (or stay)

If he can bring any moneyball stuff to the table then I’m looking forward to it.

Absolutely agree pal. People will become fixated that he came from macclesfield. Yet welcomed faal from enfield on the playing side as the new dawn. Bizarre. But expected I guess.

Thick fuckers will become fixated on that. Everyone else will see what he does. It’s nonsense anyway. The best director of football might be at a non league side for all anyone knows. For example who would want to appoint anyone involved in recruitment at Man Utd in the last decade? That would be seriously stupid.

Another step in the right direction. The guy has dealt with the murky waters of lower league football so ticks the boxes.

Remember that, miracles aside, we are playing the “likes” of Macclesfield in 20 games or so. This is the type of measured preparation I like about FV.

People will moan because it’s what they enjoy. But from a business and realism perspective, this looks like a shrewd move.

Love Shazza, me, I do.

I mean one might consider not taking on folk used to doing multi million pound deals for international superstars when you are heading for league two in a transfer embargo lacking ambition.

Others might just call it common fucking sense.

Indeed. Not bothered where he comes from. Same goes for him as the players if he does well and gets picked up by a bigger team then again it’s a job well done.

Does this mean Kenyon is not needed now? Did he have a role in sourcing this new guy with fancy name? Just genuine questions no motive

Sourcing?

Hey you int dole queue. Fancy a job so I earn my consultancy fee?

FV spend several millions on buying the club. With 0 collective experience of running a football club. So they ask for advice from an exec with lots of experience. It’s not unusual. I suspect Kenyon’s role will last as long as they feel advice is needed.

He's got a lot of experience in recruiting managers. Macc' have had a new one every 3 months.

Correct Dave. If we are to live within our means (eventually) we can't afford bigbollocked people. Give him a chance, our Toby.

I'm in the Phoenix club me.

is there any difference between head of football operations and director of football ? May be the role is nothing to do with transfer recruitment but more to do with over seeing the different areas of the club

Having a manager and both a Director of Football and CEO below the owner seems one job and wage too many for a lower divisions club to me.In Bolton's most successful era since the Nat Lofthouse days Allardyce and Gartside did those 3 jobs between them. And Gartside seemed to fit in his job with going to Australia working for other businesses he was involved with.

And how many staff did PG have to support him?

And, let's say this bloke is on 100k

That's the cost of one shit signing

The belief will be that he will more than pay for himself

We shall need to wait and see

That FV are spending money on management with football experience fills me with a little more confidence, rather have Hill and Flicker making all the calls.
