Kept hearing how absolutely amazing Sweden was and how we should have followed them and not locked down at all. The point is that the Swedish people wouldn’t be spending this evening trying to to find loopholes to see what they are legally “allowed” to get away with. They took it upon themselves to choose to act in a sensible and responsible manner. Everyone needs to have a good hard think about what they “should” be doing - not what is “allowed”.

As for my job, I stay in my own office the majority of the time, might pop in the administration office for any post, and a few students and staff come in for advice (of which I now have none 😁), pretty frustrating for everyone and covid is also making more work for everyone. 

I think people are becoming more frustrated, and the hypocrisy of the whole thing is there to see.

The hypocrisy is always going to be there when someone can say “I can go to work with x but I can’t go and see my mum” or similar. 
 

if folk were stopped from going to work again and not paid that argument would change about face. 
 

It is confusing and it is a shitshow I agree but I can’t see anyway out of it and can’t actually think of a way to make it much better other than lock everyone down properly and shut the borders or just let everyone go on as if it doesn’t exist and let old folk and vulnerable folk die. Other than that anything is a half way house and Is going to draw contempt from certain parts of society.

The latest SAGE report has just been published.

That recommended a full lockdown for at least 2 weeks, probably more.

The govt have stopped a long way short of what SAGE want.

They're the GM conditions, which we only just gone back into. The stricter, Bolton specific ones, were different. 

If they vote the new system down, we'll stick with them.

Theres a reason figure heads like Sasha Lord and Andy Burnham are backing legal challenges to stop the hospitality sector getting battered. 

I personally think its an easy target, obviously because they want to keep uni's , workplaces and schools up and running. Its based on that, not data and certianly not risk.

In reply to esco, this virus is spread most in hosptials, carehomes, universities and the workplace. Thats where I see the problem is.

To me pubs are drop in the ocean when it comes to the virus being transmitted, most are bang on with the restrictions. The curfew just makes a mockery of the whole thing.

No hypocrisy for me. Always about risk reduction. The higher the rate, the fewer risks will be afforded.

Education is going to be the last thing shut down, and the figures suggest the younger the age groups, the lower the transmission. As kids get towards adulthood, thats when things change.

Which brings it full circle in a way- your college won't be serving alcohol.

Care homes hospitals and to some extend schools are unavoidable sources of infections.  If you strip out the cases associated with those and then look at what percentage of total case come from hospitality. That’s the correct way to measure it really to figure out the relevance. And I’m not one to take pubs shutting lightly as I love a pint as much as anyone. But the 4% figure whilst possibly accurate is very misleading due to the above. 

Oh and for completeness. The curfew is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen since this started. Makes no difference and arguably makes it worse.
