Not sure if you'll know, but where is most of the equipment made, particularly the ffp3 stuff?

China

Was it entirely the government or was there a failure of hospital administration to order sufficient stuff in time?

PHE also downgraded the standard of some equipment- why?

There was loads of PPE available initially, owing to governments and their emergency plans for such events (which plenty of others didn't have). Also stocks incase of a no deal Brexit.

Now they have asked all manufacturers to massively increase production, as well as asking others who might be able to make stuff to do so.

Wait until all this is done, and subsequent investigations reveal weaknesses in our preparedness.

Of course medical folk haven't necessarily got all they need- we're all aware of it.

Keep papping on about it is just more cockish, self righteous bleating.

I'd also add that if selfishness of public was reduced, perhaps the ppe demand might have been lower, allowing time for production scale up.

I think it was Hancock on the wireless this morning who claimed there has been no shortage of ppe, no need for ramp ups

Said they had loads of it

Fcuking loads

Not much of a flu attack and overstocking in case of a no deal

They just couldn't distribute the stuff

Which is a bit shit, if true

Makes sense!

Can see why he's asking British companies to switch to producing stuff.

World is definitely going to become a little less globalised after this.

Ireland at the moment

Gonzo would be fucked 😊

On PPE, the missus came home from work last night absolutely livid because a bloke we know works for Public Health England and was papping on about how we have tons of PPE and there are no shortages. She told him quite rightly that there were huge shortages in her hospital. Last night, they ran out at 1am and couldn't find any more, she had one shitty surgical mask to last till the end of her shift at 7.30am. He finally admitted that there have been logistical issues in getting some items to all trusts and their hospitals.

She said it has been quiet in A&E last 2 nights but a friend messaged her just before she left tonight to say it is a lot busier with suspected cases.

Tax breaks in the past. The Ireland Tiger economy. Medical devices, woundcare and pharmaceutical companies technically base themselves there. Production could be anywhere. Company I used to work for built their negative pressure kit in Ireland but all the dressings were made near Skipton. Everything registered in Ireland. Competitor was registered in Ireland. Dressings were made in India. They were shit

In Italy approximately 6000 people a day would be able to tell you.

Not being negative, just that ‘only’ 602 people died there today and it’s a reason to be optimistic. We have a long way to go yet whatever the government announces tonight.

And whilst I’m on the NHS I’ll have my usual rant. No point blaming the govt. they allocate a budget. It’s never enough. Whichever party is in power. They can only raise tax and NI to a certain level otherwise folk fuck them off at voting time. You get what you pay for

Well actually you don’t. You get a grossly mismanaged beast of a system that relies on kent, blondie and many others to cope with what they are given. Which is often shit based on cost-cutting. The wastage and lack of long-term thinking is horrific

Dealing with people in the NHS at the coalface is an absolute pleasure. Dealing with some of the managers at certain levels who make the decisions is often mind-boggling

It's amazing that we look at Italy now and consider 602 a result....!

Would Verna care be able to contribute to the ppe effort?

I know

But thats 3 days in a row where it's lower.

Proving the lockdown works, and in fairly short order compared with the 18 month predictions.

The country needs a short sharp shock to make everyone realise that the government can stop you living the life you want if they so choose.

Lessons have to be learned.

Get the place closed. keep those daily numbers below Italy/Spain and then we get rewarded with some lifting of restrictions.

I think where they have Fanzone would be perfect for a makeshift ICU.
