Its grim isn't it.

I recall Mounts saying absolutely no way on earth would we be getting the sort of numbers that Italy and Spain were getting a few weeks ago. Here's hoping he's right, but it looks like we're going to be right up there with them unfortunately

We're entering what's predicted to be our worst period now. We've known about it for weeks. Now is the time for cool heads.

Just a note on testing. I could feasibly test 100 people tomorrow. But the lab couldn't cope with those kind of numbers. It's the lab capacity that is holding up testing. Not the kit.

Kent. We’ve only one more lab to be opened so how do you think this gets resolved if we now have a virtually all our intended capacity?

It's grim,

keep calm and carry on is all we can do, and hope that this is the peak.

It seems most have listened to the advice, still disappointing to see groups of people heading to supermarkets etc.

Our media needs a wobble, the problem is if you vet questions before they are asked, then you're at risk of being accused of controlling the media (well... you are), but repeating questions is a waste of time.

I don't see he's doing that at all, he think he's just pointing out that people with zero qualifications who know fuck all about this virus (ie most of us) were happy to offer up reasons why Italy and Spain were getting slammed, and suggesting that because we live differently here in the UK, we'd be nowhere near as badly hit

Correct

My sister lives in Spain and they’ve been told full lockdown until at least May 10th. And their numbers are thankfully starting to drop.

If we can stay 3 weeks behind, at best we’ve got another 6/7 weeks of this to go.

But I’m guessing. And moderately terrified because what doesn’t get mentioned much is that this virus can be fucking horrible if you get it. People seem to be forgetting that.

Yeah I agree with a fellow poster the bigger she is the better she looks.

The lab capacity was always going to be the issue with testing as the test stands and everyone involved will have always known this from the very start, do you know if anything been done to remedy this anywhere along the line?

Well, the final count will be a long away yet, but I don’t think there is any doubt that we are seeing the sort of numbers Italy and Spain have been getting.

Edit: Just seen that Hancock has confirmed revised numbers, being 980 more since yesterday (hospitals only). That’s higher than the daily highest of Spain (950) and Italy (971).

What are the populations of Italy and Spain?

Are we lower proportionally?

The idea of the olds living with the young in Italy doesn't fully work, if we consider a lot of our olds being isolated together in one building. Only needs one contact and it's a shit storm waiting to happen.

Comparisons with other countries are completely unhelpful anyway, we can only contribute to what's happening here, and if fewer not rights had done so, maybe we wouldn't be seeing so many.

Trump has said they won’t hit 100,000 deaths. They’re quite far behind us, most states haven’t been properly hit.

He said the warm weather will kill it

He said America will be back open by Easter (tick tock Donny)

They’re absolutely hurtling towards 100k deaths. The naivety in this man will contribute to deaths al over America. They’re fucked.
