I said I’d been up there a few times didn’t I 😂😂I should have been more clear apart from that what is Dragging all these people up there suddenly?

I take the dog he knows when we’re going that way as well he’ll bounce around the car like a lunatic.
They've done a bit of work up there as well it’s coming along nicely

I still go up rivi regularly to walk the dog, plenty of good walks, i volunteer and do the DoE around there, its a fantastic place and it's on our doorstep.

Did the good friday thing always when i was a kid, walked or biked from Deane to the Pike and back, i doubt todays snowflakes will even attempt it.

Certainly a spectacular vista and I always enjoyed it when I did go. Probably would me much more inclined to use it now than I did when I lived there to be fair

but can honestly say, and maybe it’s because of where I lived in Bolton, I don’t recall anyone I know ever going up rivi on Good Friday or ever hearing it before.

everyday is a school day and all that

and I’m sure it won’t be too long before folk can get back up there anyway just a few more weeks to get through

It’s been tradition for decades. It was started by a local church - the idea being to replicate the walk Baby Jesus made up the hill on good Friday to where he was crucified.

The big difference is that he didn’t get to walk back down and do a pub crawl round horwich and drink until he poohed himself.

its the only day of the year I won’t go up there. Rest of the time, it’s fckin beautiful

Yep. Over a hundred years according to the local news.

They developed a test 3 weeks before us, they have many more laboratories. They've tested 1.3 million, weve not done 300k. We are 55th in the world for tests per population, yet have 5th most deaths. There's something seriously wrong.

Dunno if you saw yesterday's briefing.

Lack of reagent availability now disappearing.

Couple that with more private labs coming on line and testing will increase.

As for the longer term; perhaps we need to look at our medical industry base. This globalised trading is great until something like this happens.

The US have tested more than anyone, but it doesn’t seem to be helping them so much!

maybe it's more a Horwich thing as it's on our doorstep - from my folks front door to top of the pike is about 30 mins walk, we used to do it all the time, boxing day also popular

remember reading in Steve Coogan's autobiography that during the school holidays his family would often drive over and go up the pike as well

that's reassuring pal, the sooner we can get to the 100,000 a day the better.

I was reading something similar about the reliance the USA places on the Puerto Rican pharmaceutical industry. All the big US drug manufacturers moved production there in the 70s due to tax breaks, to the extent that they're the main supplier and some important drugs are solely produced in 1 or 2 factories there - They forgot to take into account that Puerto Rico gets hit by hurricanes, lies on a fault line and has had 2 tsunamis in the last 150 years. Hurricane Maria gave them a wake up call - maybe this will do similar for us.

I spoke with my mate who is an NHS boss in chorley/preston, he said they're planning for the peak to be 2 weeks from yesterday around here, but they're monitoring a few variables that could change that.

Only recently, would have been much better if they'd done these tests earlier -  theoretically it should help down the line, time will tell.

US have tested many,  but they're still 42nd in the world when measured against population, they've tested 7K out of every 1 million population - there's many countries who've done over 20k per 1m .

UAE has done  60K per 1m,

Iceland 95K per 1m

In all the years I spent in Bolton I think I went up Rivi a handful of times. What’s the sudden fascination with it? Is it like Disney land or something that’s been built there and drawing people in?

It’s since they opened that new knocking shop at the top.

Twatter has certainly outdone itself in the trend #BoristheButcher

I despair at some people blaming the tories but not surprised. The vile and misinformation is astounding, we have people manipulating stats and graphs and its gospel and its somebody's fault. And apparently he's a cunt for clapping the NHS, how dare he they say, Twitter is full of twats, cunts, cretins and idiots, and that is a FACT!

NEWS ALERT: IT'S A WORLD PANDEMIC!

it is out of order blaming one individual, questions are going to get asked if we end up having the worst death rate in the western world though.

Personally I think it's purely down to the way we, and countries like the US pass law and make decisions, we are very thorough when it comes to passing laws, debating,  making sure that every box is ticked in a fair manner,  but this isn't so good when fighting against a rapidly spreading virus - dictatorships, communist states and those with simple law making process can make faster decisions and they don't care as much about the consequences if they make a bad one.

In the press briefing the press has 5 questions a day about ‘who is in charge’ ‘Will you make a tough decision’ etc etc

They touch on testing but then let it go.

1 how many tests of each type yesterday.
2 are we on track for 100k

This May be included in their packs but it does seem the gov get a free ride on this but a bloke delivering essential supplies to his elderly family is a scandal.

I use Twitter. I never see people wishing death on the Tories and haven't seen anything negative towards Boris's health.

If you go in search of mentalists saying things that will offend you, you'll find them. Why bother? If you look at any hashtag like that, half of the posts using it will be people saying what a disgrace it is - yet by using it, it trends and the cycle continues.

Really, imo it's out of control, how many followers you got 3 ??

I can only assume you don't browse the trends or your very selective who you follow.

What’s this the fuckin playground?
