Just had an email of a campsite in The Dordogne and they are opening from the 2nd June, swimming pools the lot.

And Haven sites over here are opening in July, no pools, bars or entertainment, but you can order a takeaway to be delivered to your static caravan!

Have the French got it right, or are we being to cautious.

Does the email not say “apart from brits” anywhere😀

Well done Boris

And well done to Starmer for turning the screw yesterday.

Wonderful thing, the British constitution, when it works like that.

Thinking about it, should anyone working here and paying taxes, pay an additional amount to use the NHS?

I can understand an initial period perhaps, so that folk don't come over on the pretence of work, get treatment, then fuck off; but after a qualification period if you're paying in like everyone else, not sure anything on top is fair.

A comment on the news channel was that starmer hasn't given prior notice of his questions to be asked at pmq. If true, would seem a bit odd, if he wants a comprehensive answer.

However, as things stand, seems a decent result.

Got me first corona telling off today. In the supermarket some odd old(ish) woman turns round from perusing steaks and says "2 metres - I'm not joking - I'm vulnerable, my doctor says I'll die if I get it". In other circumstances I'd have pointed out that I was 2m away (and indeed wouldn't come within 2m of her if they paid me) and that maybe if you're that vulnerable then possibly a supermarket is not the best place to go - oh and where's your mask then?". But I let it pass

They've got to prepare to open as soon as they get the nod, so don't blame them.

Unless there's some inbuilt immunity in the population, and/or the antibody test results are being interpreted incorrectly (neither if which there's any solid evidence for) we're years off getting back to normality if they want to keep the R rate low(unless we get a vaccine/better medicine beforehand).

Might just be a lull for a few months whilst we have a low R rate and good weather.

They'll work out how safe different activities. Camping and caravaning you'd think would be much safer than hotels. Outdoor activities, outdoor drinking and eating, should be ok I hope.

A bit of a mention that July 4th for holidays here.

Not sure about sweaty land though- wonder if I'll be able to shift country?

I'm impressed.

No way would I have let that pass. Another witch by the sounds of it.

Now then, did KS comment on anything else that was out of date and no longer valid or did he have something pertinent to offer?

In a word ‘yes’

to be fair it probably was her social interaction of the day (apart from her cat, Enoch, who only stays because she feeds him). I saw her loitering in another isle, presumably just waiting for someone to pass her so she could harangue them. I guess if it makes her happy, gives her summat to live for, then that's fine

Fake news. Government specifies  how many tests from how many people and that isn’t reflecting 2 tests per person

You should tell this lot then...

The Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England each confirmed the double-counting.

It doesn't say every test is double counted.

Last one I paid attention to said summat like 99,000 tests from 68000 people. So it really shouldn’t come as a surprise to folk who have paid attention to it.

fake news probably wrong phrase. As it’s true to some extent but it’s not really news is it? Would be newsworthy if they weren’t openly stating it daily ?

You are trying to reason with people so far entrenched that it’s pointless.

Not sure if it’s been said but the government 10 year bond yields have been taken up with negative interest rates this week

I.e the government is now borrowing money off the markets without having to pay any interest on it

Great news when we are taking in £200bn - £300bn worth of additional debt

Hopefully means that and tax rises or spending cuts are kicked into the long grass until the economy has recovered to where it was pre crisis

They've always said people get tested more than once, which is one thing if it's because a test comes back inconclusive. But they've never said that two swabs at the same time from the same person = two tests.

The number of tests is the number mentioned in the update and the charts on the daily briefing, the daily number of people tested is only put out online. That 'tests' includes tens of thousands of kits that haven't been completed, tests that were counted twice from the outset and tests that aren't even looking for new cases (antibody tests) makes it a completely meaningless figure.

It is a meaningless figure and it’s been pointless the emphasis that has been put on it when considered with the context of testing stations being closed down due to not enough work.

there is a New site not too far From where I live that was announced with great fanfare 4 weeks ago. Being run by the military. It’s never opened. Scotland still has about 2k tests a day was the last I heard. Which is really low. But I think without contact tracing the tests are semi redundant?

It’s ok, went to the Telegraph site as they usually cover up for Boris and co.

Hard to really spin this as anything other than pure deception.

You would have thought that if you’re going to cheat, you do it well enough so that you look like you’ve hit your targets.

There is a positive, hopefully they’ve done the same with dead people and the tally is much lower. Every cloud.

Need testing as part of the tracing system, to identify positive cases initially and work backwards.
