Fair enough

Id still prefer my chances over a younger bloke with RT issues

Important to keep perspective. Most people of any age with any condition will survive it. 99% overall will survive it. It’s just everyone eventually will get it. So it’s a small % of a massive number.

A healthy 70 year old is at less risk than a 30 year old athsmatic

Fair point but if they’re putting it out there that the elderly are the most vulnerable, and 72 year old Dave gets a cough and it’s just that but because of what’s been put out in the media, are people not going to clog up phone line and take up time in hospitals?

I think you’re right about the folk with underlying conditions should be the ones to look at self isolating

I've just been to Morrisons, the amount of empty shelves is unbelievablle, it's no wonder I don't like poeple

Ended up doing a round of Home Bargains/Aldi/Morrisons to try and get everything on our (normal) shopping list. Got pretty much everything in the end. No milk anywhere at Aldi but plenty in Morrisons (Leigh).

I’ve no issue with over 70’s ignoring the advice and staying out

As long as when they get ill they don’t expect to be looked after by the NHS. Can’t see many choosing to die quietly at home mind. The same ones ignoring the advice will be the ones kicking off that the NHS don’t have enough ventilators

The isolation advice is aimed to save the NHS at the end of the day

Said similar to the missus earlier. Only a few days ago folk were complaining that the government wasn't doing enough. Now complaints that they're too Draconian. Just proves how difficult it is to do the right thing.

Can understand the point that it's a long time to be isolated, and that was the government's initial response to questions of why we weren't following other nations.

She spoke to an elderly neighbour earlier, and he frankly wasn't arsed if he caught it and died as something would take him eventually!

The humanitarian nature of our health services means such people will be treated if they get it, so perhaps some attempt to follow guidelines wouldn't go amiss.

It's done through PHE etc.

35 dead here now. Around 1400 cases.

Only 5,000 ventilators, need thousands more

Call gone out to British manufacturers to switch production over

Sky news have a program at 6.30 with a health panel answering questions

The government comms is awful. Leaking prospective plans to the media to gauge reaction. Not publishing the plan or evidence. Drip feeding.

They need to do better with that. Way way better.

Totally agree. I want to hear from the head honcho on a daily basis.

We live in an age where scepticism takes precedence over belief, because there’s so many lies and bollocks out there. I’m not sure what to believe so I’d rather hear our government come out and update us.

The Government have, every day.

But I take your point that Boris should be more visible.

So folk can say he’s telling lies and bollocks 😂

does it really matter if it comes from him or a health pro? I’d personally prefer to hear it from someone who knows what they’re on about.

Not according to the research articles I’ve read. Age is the single biggest risk. They think it’s to do with changes in immune system pathways as people age.

Isn’t it about time you qualified yourself.
