That was one of the loveliest things to ever happen. Stood in my garden sobbing like a baby! Proud to work for the NHS 👏👏👏👏❤️

Yes

Through a 2 inch opening in the window of her room. Stood outside in the rain shouting to be heard.

Passers by looking on wondering why a handsome lad in a hoodie was shouting through a carehome window asking if the person inside had enough clean underwear to last for the next couple of days.

On a serious note, they are absolute in their zero visitor rule. Which I understand. But it’s like she’s been put in prison and that’s why I have a huge amount of lager for tonight.

That must be hard mate.....

Hope you're ok!

My auntie has just been to Asda and said there was bare shelves and hardly any tinned stuff and pasta sauces etc.. 😂

Same here. Reckon we haven’t done a “big shop” for over 10 years because we are both away with work so much. Tend to make big batches of food and freeze

Last three days I’ve been to Lidl in Newton Heath, Aldi in Clayton, Tesco in Failsworth and Morrison’s in Chaddy. No queues, no empty shelves, no folk with trollies laden over head-height

My mum went to Aldi at School Hill yesterday and queued for over 40 mins at the till. I went to Aldi in town and ASDA in Astley Bridge today. Utter carnage. Empty shelves, massive queues, signs restricting the number of items folk can buy

Trying to work out who’s the mongiest?? Boltonians for panic-buying or East Mancs for ignoring/not understanding a threat??

It's just because its weekend.

Aldi Horwich been fine all week. Went in about 5pm today, no milk no pasta very few tins.

Apart from the odd few million; Ethiopians, Sudanese, Rwandans/Burundians, Congolese, Vietnamese, North Koreans, Former Yugoslavs etc.

Can't imagine much panic buying going on in those places

There's been no flour or pasta in the normal aisles at Tesco Middlebrook since mid-week so it's not just because it's weekend.

If you buy from the world aisle you can get 10kg bags of flour and rice no probs at all if you so desire, if you go to an asian supermarket you could fill a shipping container with dry stuff if you wanted.

Good news is that Morrison's had plenty of Thatchers Katy so I will get through tonight ok.

Asda always seems to attract the not rights, it isn't much of a surprise tbh.

You're not going to get tested unless your illness is serious enough to go to hospital. So you'll likely never know if you've had it or not.For several months, every time you (or anyone in your household in a few weeks) gets a cough and/or a temperature, you're all going to be expected to stay in for 7 days. You might catch it next week, get no symptoms, but you're still gonna have to stay in if you get a cold later on

Feck that. I’m doing it once only

I thought you meant things going tits up and folk being forced into cannibalism, grass eating (the turf kind) or, worse still, hoarding/eating pot noodles and smartprice spaghetti topped with Dolmio.

This worries me. That’s an awful lot of very very experienced people asking the governments advisers to explain their science because it contradicts the body of published evidence thus far. I heard a number of people say this yesterday, didn’t realise hundreds had this concern.

Some good stuff on that.

Problem for the government is that people's behaviour is going to be so varied, irrespective of what they say.

Only have to look at differing beliefs and attitudes expressed on here.

Generally speaking I think people are heeding warnings and behavioural change can be seen with regard to hand washing, and cleaning surfaces.

Whether that would apply to isolating and closing stuff down for weeks on end, who knows.

Not sure there is a particularly good outcome in any practices they apply; just hope these delaying tactics do as they're designed, and give time for additional arrangements to be introduced.

Read earlier about ideas of mobilising troops and students as a volunteer army to deliver food and check on older people.

Going to need a lot of community spirit.

Been in touch with friends in Spain south of Alicante and he says all Spain is in lockdown, bars, restaurants most shops told to shut, folk being encouraged not to mix socially, this is for at least 15 days.

Adam Kucharski is a good follow on Twitter. He's involved in the statistical modelling the Government, CMO and CSA are using.

Bloody hell that hits hard.

Kind words gents, thank you.

My mum is the one suffering. Alone, confused and not fully aware of the outside world, she just thinks we’re ignoring her. She’s one of thousands in a similar position. It’s heartbreaking.

Whatever it takes, the world needs to see this through quickly.

Never looked at it like that Spider, didn’t occur to me what she must be thinking. Bloody hell. x
