Not going to for a bit. I've just had an email from school saying there's multiple kids off awaiting test results, so potential for classes to be sent home for isolation in next few days. A load of them will just be headaches, sore throats, coughs and temperatures from other stuff. Would be good if they could get the tests done and results back quicker. Mine took 4 days Edited September 15, 2020 by peelyfeet Quote

London is based on travel, on commuting - the joke being everyone is always 40 minutes away from each other. Commuter numbers just aren't there. Borough's like mine is now one of the lowest, after being the top five across the country for the first month or so. Everyone on my street is working at home or on furlough. Next door are film and TV editors, Office manager after that, two retirees, couple who run a gymnastic classes. No one is going anywhere. The news today is that traffic in the suburbs of London is much higher. That donut effect I think is really effecting London and transmission rates. For the real picture I'd look at borough by borough to see what is happening. The full lockdown really helped us though, rather than the half arsed measures. Newham, as one of the poorest and diverse boroughs, trailed the app - first in London. Wonder if this helped as well? There was that work earlier that showed a lot more people in London had anti bodies. No idea why they had anti bodies but was about 3 times higher from memory. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2020/08/14/one-ten-people-london-have-coronavirus-antibodies-13129184/amp/ Found report but as NW was above average I might be talking bollocks. Disparity could be caused by parents just being fucked off with having kids at home or the choice been school or grandparents. Quote

That means more Londoners have had it, also when lockdown ended they had much lower death rate than NW for several weeks after, which suggests NW's got a larger pool of hosts for the virus to infect, and more of the virus circulating. If you were going to do the 1st lockdown agsin, but on a regional basis, NW would start and end a few weeks later than London. Edited September 15, 2020 by peelyfeet Quote

Escobarp Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Just driven past the lord Nelson in pendlebury. Certainly no Covid round there. Couldn’t have been closer together in groups of 10+ sat outside in full view of the police van that’s just driven past. waste of time this. Let’s just crack on now Quote
peelyfeet Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) Patients in mechanical ventilation beds in Eng gone up from 63 to 101 in 4 days. Big Jump in the rate. This is a reflection of infections from about 2 weeks ago, so unfortunately I expect this number will grow for at least 2-3 weeks, until the effect of restrictions kick in, if they do. We'd been wavering between 52 and 68 for the 5 weeks before. Peak was 2,800 in April, so miles off that. Edited September 15, 2020 by peelyfeet Quote

I've been avoiding most updates on the whole thing but is there any concrete proof infection means future immunity? Also despite being the wrong side of forty and occasional homages to George Best I'm in pretty good aerobic shape - I don't want to contract it and spend my remaining life wheezing through runs, bike rides, gym etc. like someone who's spent a lifetime on 60 Woodbines a day and subsisting solely on dripping butties and Trophy Bitter. It's not mutating much, and the bits if of it that are mutating aren't the bits that make any difference to the effectiveness of a vaccine, so the thinking at the moment is, the vaccine will see it off, worldwide, sometime next year hopefully, and if you catch it now, you should be pretty much immune for several years. Youri McAnespie Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) Alreet. My second point still stands. These c*nts (Johnson and co.) will blame Covid for ANY future financial strife so... I ain't scarifying my lungs and compromising my long-term health for any 'greater good' - so some tat peddlers and dubious service providers can carry on as normal 'protecting the economy' and so some parents don't have to actually spend time with their little fuckers. 😜 Edited September 15, 2020 by Youri McAnespie Quote
