Was watching The Last Dance same time I saw a couple of episodes of Sunderland Till I Die. The difference in interview quality was stark. I could listen to Jordan and the most of the players all day.

STID was just the same tired old cliches and boring rhetoric and Grayson was top at it.

Only watched a couple of episodes of this series but that Chief Exec Charlie Methven (now ex-chief exec) called a spade a spade didnt he?  They way he spoke to his staff sometimes, what a tool.

The majority of clubs in the Conference are running at a loss in the desperate hope of getting in to the Football League. No wonder Chorley wanted out of it.

I spoke to somebody (clue at the end) about this a few days ago and it's not so much the wages that kills chorley, it's more the lack of local games requiring the time and cost of travelling and the lack of away punters

Whenever that fatty from Tranmere moved on Chorley thought they could get him, but York offered him double

On a similar tack, there can't be many blokes who have put more of their lives into non league football than KW

Under the cosh podcast with SJM, which was the non league club he talks about that had offered him double the wages + car+ a flat than what he got when he went to Shrewsbury?

Chorley’s league position is a natural consequence of what they were paying compared to everyone else though.

When Leigh RMI made it to the Conference in 2000, there were only five full time clubs (one of which were moneybags Rushden) but that’s been completely reversed. Literally the only difference between National League and League Two is that the latter has a portion of TV money to help with full time wages and 600 mile midweek round trips.

KW has certainly put the miles in though, no doubting that. Shame from Chorley’s point of view that Hemmings preferred to pour his money down Preston’s drain.

Unfortunately there isn't a perfect formula in employing football managers. We should know because we have had some shite over the years.

You just hope whoever is in charge of employing the new mon, have done their homework and have a long-ish-term plan in place.

The club sets out what it wants, and they go after the best manager that fits the bill, and the incoming manager has to buy in to it, there needs to be honesty on both sides, that way they can work together, as to not being sold a dud like Lennon was for example.

Unfortunately us fans are not privvy to what the state of our club is in financially, they seem to keep their cards close to their chest, i just hope they show a little ambition.

Exactly, we've supposedly done our research over the years and seem to have without fail hit on a losing formula!  The only other 2 big clubs (relative to their division) with a similarly shit record in the last few years has to be Sunderland and Bradford.

My concern about throwing everything at the Tobias route is you can just see that 6 months down the line there will be an article out of the blue that he has left to persue other ambitions.  It seems like a system built on sand, what happens when he decides he's bored with working for us, there's nothing more certain, as BW fans we just get used to people coming and going, all thinking they can make a difference and none of them do (I'm not aiming that at the excellent Sharon or FV by the way).

I thought he was ok. I found the disinterested woman a bigger knobber

It’s not throwing everything at the Tobias route. If anything it’s the complete opposite. It has a structure in place with more people involved than just the manager per se. So if one of them was to leave then we could carry on.

If you leave it all to managers and they go we then have the next bloke saying he’s still clearing deadwood etc.

Anyone but Lee, who should be on his way out.

I'm a huge Nolan fan, but fear that him & Ricketts are being favoured more for their ex-player status ( which is irrelevant ) than their actual managerial record. Lowe's record is great but he's had plenty more money to play with than he'd have here.....& I can't see him dropping down a division anyway.

Evatt or Reid look the best fits for the new "moneyball" system but are big gambles, & in our position, a failed gamble could see us drop into non-league football.

My choice would be to play safe with a manager with a decent record at lower levels.....Grayson, Atkins or least for no reason i can put my finger on, Clough.

Forgot about Bowyer, same as Grayson or Atkins.

That's how it came across to me as well. I have a few good mates who are Sunderland Season Ticket holders. One of them is thinking not to renew at the moment (I bet he will though). He has had a Season Ticket since the late 1980s. He doesn't mind Sunderland being shit as long as Newcastle are also doing shit at the same time :)

I know bury spent more money than they could afford under Lowe but don’t remember them blowing every other club out the water at league 2 In the transfer market ? Or did they have a massive advantage over everyone else that season ?

Dave Felgate was earning £250 a week at RMI over 20 years ago; more than plausible that 2k is given to a decent player at a bigger club these days

Just realise I didn't give you the numbers

That tranmere fatty CB, joined York for a grand a week

I dont think they did spend that big to be fair.  4 or 5 players went with him to Plymouth in Div 2 which suggests they werent being snapped up by Div 1 teams or higher.  The stand out signings at Bury in last few years are probably Nicky Maynard, Harry Bunn, Stephen Dawson, Beckford.  The last 2 always seemed to be injured but will have earned top money, relatively, otherwise they werent going to be at Bury.  Harry Bunn looked a decent player for Huddersfield so must have been earning a bit and Maynard wouldnt come cheap.  But that spending wasnt by Lowe directly.

They were top 3 in wages, I think

Which was massively beyond their means

He inherited a lot of players on big wages from Lee Clark's time there.  Beckford was said to be on 7k a week which on their gates is ludicrous.

Lump on boys, our CEO gone to press saying Lowe fully committed to Argyle so bound to leave.

Evatt sounded like a ‘come and get me plea’ too. At the moment, I’m focusing on the job here

If we get Lowe or Evatt, either would be a great appointment in my opinion.

Lowe has two back-to-back promotions from League 2 and apparently plays attacking football, and Evatt has got a non-league team playing pass and move with success to boot.

Win-win for me. Shame that both would require compo and that will be a true indicator of what FVs resources are.

They've already said they would pay compo for the right man.

Heard Beale had an interview today and that Lowe stayed at hotel a few days ago, presumably for interview too. (Predictive text changed interview to intercourse I only noticed as I was about to press send)

By this time next week we'll have had a rallying cry from our new manager I think.
