Heckingbottom is a dour sort: you don't want him.

When it's going well, he's great. He reverts to 451 hoofball and blaming everything/everyone else for his failings when results start to slide, though.

He is not as big a twat as your last bloke - The King Of Twats - but you'd tire of his poor-me schtick fairly quickly.

Yes, I understand that his budget at Barnsley was not wonderful. Got it. I even got it before his 100th whine about the same thing. But leaders are supposed to lead. If he speaks to his players in the same negative way he speaks to the fans, we were always doomed.

He is a miserable sod who plays football to make your eyes bleed. For a 'new' Bolton with a blank slate to build a squad from scratch, he would not set my pulse racing.

Yep, there were good days. But he has never shown the ability to manage. He kept the pot boiling after Lee Johnson left, and I do accept that he was given a very lousy hand when half the squad left in January of 2017. That is when he needed to manage, and not just piggyback the work which had gone on before. He couldn't do it. Leeds or Hibs I don't know a lot about. But I was sick of his complaining and was glad when he left us.

Interesting insight that.  I believe what you're saying, you only know a manager when you have to live through his tenancy game after game for a long period.  We have been warned by fans of previous clubs of our last 2 managers - Parky and Hill - about how bad it would be, and they were spot on.  There should be a "Reviews" section on all football managers like there is on Travel Zoo.  I'll put Hecky in the "dont want" box, your mention of 451 hoofball was all it took, thanks!

I know i'm not a 'football man' other than a supporter but I went to the exec club at Burnden when Rioch was introduced to do a fans forum. The way he spoke, you just knew he would command respect. Sometimes a manager just fits - the right club at the right time.

I would expect 1 of the candidates to really jump out above all the others - let's hope the powers that be have got the wherewithal to make it happen

Looks like Evatt is going to be our new manager, 1/4 now can't see it being anybody else.

My £2.00 bet on him may have dramatically changed the odds!!

I was at the ground when Coyle spoke at the fans forum. Sounded amazing. We know how that turned out 🥴

Some of the best entertaining football since BSA, when tits up from Stoke but it’s all opinions.

I’d rather win games. People go to brothels to be entertained.

Evatt not even in the above voting (unless he is a precentage of AN Other). He has become some peoples favourite because its him or Campbell and the later is madder than Keith Hill.

Id still prefer someone with a proven track record like Lowe or Clough.

Evatt is in the frame here. Heavily. But compo is still an issue. And they are still interviewing. Unless that is for show ...

Doidge turned out to be an excellent signing....once Heckingbottom left. Literally hadn't scored a goal under PH and then scored a hat trick in the first game after he was sacked. He actually started off pretty well with what was left of Lennon's squad but signed 9 players last summer and promptly won 1 game in 11 before being sacked. Not exactly a good omen for building a squad with us.

Yes Leyther you're right on Doidge, he was a good signing for them and once defended him on here when he seemed to score every time he started a game for them, which wasnt every week.  So I take that back, it was probably the thought of what he did for us that lingered, but unfair to judge any striker at our place under Parky.

Interesting article popped up in the Barrow Newspaper this morning

https://www.nwemail.co.uk/sport/18534856.manager-ian-evatt-thanks-barrow-afc-boards-support/

Evatt quoted in there saying "What we've done is do everything I said we'd do "

No mention of where we go next , planning ahead, sitting down with the board  etc.

Maybe I am reading too much into it , maybe its wishful thinking on my part

I like the bit about re-engaging with the community and the fans, and having an identity.  The more I read about him the more I want to see him try it at Bolton and gradually we can find out that he's got no plan, no personality and falls out with players, whilst resorting to route 1 and picking his favourites week after week, in the wrong position.  Presumably that's what they all end up doing, or is it just at Bolton?

Just seen the potential interview list on Burnden Aces, David Lee, Steven Reid and Michael Jolley.

Out of that lot I'd give Lee a go, but would rather have Nigel Clough, Sam Ricketts or Super Kevin Nolan.

Warnock taken over from Woodgate at Boro today

Don't rule Lowe or Ricketts out.

Not sure what it is about Ricketts but it just would feel a very average appointment.

Lowe would be good but the budget argument worries me. Can he do it when we’re gonna have to sign a load of freebies and loans?

Evatt seems to have done a job most similar to ours, Barrow were shit and barely had a squad and he turned them around. Works for me.

Beale sounds good out of the coaches options.

Grayson, Powell, Clough, Heckingbottom, etc all seem like much of a muchness to me.

True. His first full season was brilliant to watch. Then he seemed to lose his marbles after Stoke.

I'm the same. He's clearly got qualities, and I'd get behind him, but I think what sets Evatt and Lowe apart is that you can just tell from their demeanour that they can be Mr Nice Guy one minute yet have the authority and respect to be Mr Angry with players and others the next. The Redknapps, Warnocks, Morinhos and Klopps have that about them.  I could be talking nonsense, but that's something I don't see in Ricketts compared to the other 2, but he's not alone, I dont see that quality in most of the so-called candidates.  It sets apart the average leaders from the better one's for me.

I think it was more Coyle  inheriting a bog average midfield from Megson and the excellent signing of Holden being able to carry it for 6 months.Holden was a one man dynamo and when he was injured it was back to the shite he inherited.Cohen/ M Davies/Muamba/McCann - difficult to get a tune from that at PL level as both Meggo and Coyle found

I do think people are starting to overthink this

However,if you think bollockings might not be Ricketts strong point, Graham Barrow is his right hand man, the cunt

Didn't know that but it's put me off Ricketts a bit now.

Muamba and Mark Davies weren’t shit. Obviously not Roy and Paul but good enough at premier league level if they’d of stayed fit.
