Understand having to cut cloth drastically while in admin but once an owner is in place I hope to god they can reverse this absolute mess we are unnecessarily put in.

in response to reading of the need to cut the wage bill to 6 million

Something Rubberkex posted on here a while back concerned me a little. Up to the 80s we would have still been attracting fans from Wigan and the surrounding areas.  Now, not so much.  The ground being away from the town centre too could mean we dont attract as much youth from outlying areas such as Farnworth, Little Lever etc that we once did too.

Wigan have always been tinpot but their hardcore has grown to around 8-9000 and I dont know what, if anything, Wanderers have done these last 10 years to attract a new generation of fans.  I worry that in another 20 years we'll be as tinpot as them.

I can confidently say that, having (unfortunately) been on the inside during their finest hours, they always considered their absolute hardcore to be c4,500 when they were first relegated from the Premier League, and I doubt that has changed much.

Latics spent YEARS trying to target new fans in Leigh and Atherton but I can confidently report that we would quite comfortably outnumber them probably 10 to 1, if not more. Probably doesn’t scratch the surface compared to armchair City/Utd/Liverpool fans, mind.

There was never much intention to target Westhoughton, but they were always very keen on trying to pick up new fans going towards Chorley.

Lad called Zac Brown on Twitter coming out with some belters in response to Nixon ...

So WHY are we selling the kids for nothing who are on cheap contracts and keeping the most valuable ones on the most money? It’s like we’re trying to implode

But don’t they understand once they buy the club they can slash the payroll themselves? At better rates than what we’re getting now?!

It looks like they'll be starting in League 1 with -12 points, with new owners (maybe), new playing staff on a massively reduced wage bill, and a new manager - sounds familiar somehow.

Enjoy.

Why -12 ? Have nt they had pints deducted already ?

Our crowds now are much higher than last time we were in this sort of position. Get it right on the pitch and they'll come.
