Good, bad and utter shite but the overriding reason for any fan is being there. That’s all that matters to me and most other fans. Television or whatever is a poor substitution for actually being there. Looking back I think I was more attached to Burnden Park than BWFC. I stopped taking up a season ticket after 3 yrs or so at the Reebok, I still go to matches but it's not the same to me... could be because we are all sitting down? First time I have admitted to this but at least we still have BWFC

Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted April 30, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted April 30, 2021 I always loved Burnden, it's where I grew up watching Bolton. I didn't think I had the same connection with the Reebok but turning up for my jab last week gave me goosebumps after so long away. The last few years, I've stayed in pubs instead of going to games, spent entire halves underneath the stands because I've had no connection with the players. The pride is back. I can't wait to be back either

I think that BWFC is my last real link with my roots, especially since my old mum passed away (I used to combine visits with matches). However I do think you'll see me a lot more, "I follow" is probably the main reason, I've hardly missed a match this season and I have got right back into it, also thanks to talking to everyone on this site. People are a massive part of feeling/belonging. The number of 4th division boys I saw in Bulgaria in our 1st Euro days was humbling. You might go years without turning up but the feeling of belonging never leaves you

gonzo
Folk that couldn’t be arsed with the reebok after burnden only missed the boozer. Fuck all else. That first season or so was lively as. All the pisspots couldn’t be arsed after that, was too much effort. Thats where the Chorley and Howrich lot stepped in.

My dad was too caught up in the fear of hooliganism and wouldn't take me to the match... Hence I was chosen to go to Burnden rather than OT. I had so many craics with my mates over the years, the first being on the pitch against Preston. I think I was 13. In terms of ups and downs, I think it's 7/6 positive, but I have been drinking for a long long time. I was very keen not to make the same mistake as my dad, so my lads first match was just before his 2nd birthday. Luckily we beat Stoke 5-0. He has endured 80% shite since then, but he still has the buzz. He was in the pitch 4 years ago today, and whilst we can't do that tomorrow, we'll be there just in case something memorable does happen. Times like this are in short supply, make memories whilst you can... If it goes tits up, you'll still remember the moment, those you're with, and what you mean to each other. I'll be going for a beer or two, summat to eat, and watch on my phone... Any party will organic COYWM

But let’s enjoy it. 4 months ago we were fearing the worst. Two and one half months ago, we were mired in 20th place. Third or higher is much better. If you're a Monty Python fan you'll know there's a sketch called Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson, maybe we ought to call the other guy with the similar problem on here 'Two Shits',!!! Popular Post CambridgeBWFC
My first ever live football game was at anfield watching Bolton beat Liverpool in the cup in 92, I was 10 and was in the centenary stand with my dad who was the Bolton fan and his mate from work who was Liverpool and got the tickets. I wasn't really a Bolton fan having not grown up in Bolton, and my dad hadn't done a great job, but from that day it set the seed. From the next season we got season tickets travelling from Cheshire to Bolton each game, not far but still a trip. I kept my season ticket through uni, but had to miss out on a few mainly Holldsworth Wembley and Preston in Cardiff, but otherwise kept that going until the 2010 season when I just lost my passion and personal reasons meant I didn't want make that trip week in and week out as my family had long since given up. Not long after I moved down Cambridge way and haven't seen as much as I had liked, the last 4-5 years I started to reconnect with the club. It was shit at first but through all the pain of that I rediscovered my deep rooted love for the club travelling to a number of home and away games. This season has been a revelation, we are a club again and one I am deeply proud of, I have watched every game and am excited by the sport again. I really hope we seal things tomorrow, but if we don't then we still go again next week and whilst not going up automatically would be horrible, the journey this season has been phenomenal and regardless of what ultimately happens, my club exists and beats firmly in my heart. COYWM!
