A View From The Other Side

I realise some of you may have zero interest in this which is fair enough but from time to time I like to have a snoop on OppositionWays out of curiosity. Thought it was worth compiling some together which I'll do in this thread whenever I get chance.

Seems like Lincoln have some pretty level headed fans but then one or two absolutely bitter fuckers.

Pick of the bunch includes:

THE BITTER

Quote

How about 10 points deducted for every £million of debt a club has?
Wonder just how low these perennial cheats would drop?

Quote
Bolton stayed in Lincoln last night. Not leaving much to chance.

No that was so they could rack up extra debt.

Quote

Surely we can't lose to these cheats?
Why are they not on multiple minus points?

Quote

I'd rather be us than them. How long do they have to pay their debt?

Quote

The simple truth is, as much as the away fans won't want to admit it, we lost to one of those vile clubs tonight. One of those that has spent beyond their means, and clearly continues to do so.

THE PRAISE

Quote

Good game. Shit result.
By the standards of last season Bolton should be pushing for promotion. But then that was last season.

Quote

Beaten by the better team. Good to see a big away following.

Quote

FT. Good game. Credit to Bolton - they did enough to control the game throughout, although we had some bright moments, especially in the first half. They also scored at exactly the right time and managed the game out.

Quote

Bolton also look like a really good side who should be in the top half of the table.

Quote

I have backed Bolton to win the league as I think they are a decent team. They looked like a very settled team that are used to winning.

He got us out of league one, kept us in the Championship against the odds & only really failed when the ship was sinking financially. Yes he was a little direct & predictable, but I wish

Just read all that with a beer and grin on my face - excellent.

Even one of their fans commenting on Conway looking head and shoulders above. He will be playing higher level very soon, hopefully with us

I'm not convinced that other fans lauding Conway is doing us any favours! :)

Their fans really are the most thick deluded pricks on God's green earth

Fuck 'em. Inbred bastards.

Reading that, first time wanderers ways has given me a semi. Thanks as ever for compiling Matty.

What with them being so renowned internationally, I imagine there's a lot of disappointed Papua New Guineans this evening.

Funny you should say that as I know a couple of the PNG players in the Leigh team have been to a couple of BWFC games 😂

That Frank Bullitt on there is one of the most two faced posters you’ll ever see.  He slagged off Maloney something rotten even if they won then when they got rid of him and appointed Lowe he backed himself into a corner saying how good he was but now despite yestersay being completely Lowes fault he has said it won’t happen again and it’s a one off.  Newflash Lowe has always been shit Plymouth fans I know say it PNE fans say it and all say SS was the brains behind those two.

Update... 😁

Beautiful

A better manager would have changed it after half an hour, yes, some of the goals were giveaways (good pressing by us to force them) but we carved them open another 4-5 times of our own making. Can't see many other managers lining up with 3 at back against us if they've seen the footage.

They were a bit better second half but the calamity for our 4th killed any chance of them threatening to get back into it. Mullin, to his credit, kept going to the end and took his goal well

What a bunch of deluded pricks who can’t accept a defeat.

The universe has a way of correcting itself. Yesterday was proof of that.

These tinpot bastards would have needed 3 home games in a row to match the crowd we had yesterday.

Shame we can't attract that kind of crowd every week

Average 21,371 so far this season.

Decent for the third division.

And that’s without any big away followings other than Wigan.

We’re averaging over 20,000 home tickets sold, that’s sensational for a club of our size (ie not a Leeds or Derby) at this level. Especially when we’ve been at it for 5 fucking years

I bloody loved it yesterday, going to the match with my (grown up) lad, a few beers before and after, getting drenched on the way back to the station was all part of the day out.

Hoping to go again in a few weeks or so depending on work and will try and bag a couple of seats in the ESL towards the corner rather than being posh in LoV.

Bolton metropolitan Borough has a population of around 280,000 iirc.

Liverpool City Region, has a population of around 1.5m. That's well over 5 times as many.

Reds and blues get around 100,000 fans combined.

That's around 5 times what we get.

They are both in the premier league, and the red lot get many tourists.

Proportionally, doesn't that make us better supported?

That number 7 if theirs, I said in the first half he’s probably the worst player I’ve ever seen. One paced, weak, bit lazy, couldn’t control the ball and never showed for it.

Turns out he’s called Murray and Wigan fans think he’s the best player in the division 😂

Yes, a begrudging credit to Mullin.  I commented after about 15 minutes that he'd be a passenger in such a high tempo, fast game as he doesn't have pace, and his only hope would be his trademark header from a corner.  If I'd known then they'd have 16 corners I'd have been worried, but he had no impact at all from them.  Instead, he made a nuisance of himself and didn't moan or try to blame teammates, he just got on with it, and scored a great goal.  We're well beyond his level now but 5 years ago he would have been a great (cheapish) signing and he would have scored plenty for us.

I suppose the counter argument is that the reason they "only" get 100k combined is because that's what their grounds hold.  If they held 200k they'd still fill them, and the rest.  And that's without including how many watch by other means, in this country and around the world (sadly).  Most clubs outside that elite level have to offer cheap tickets to attract more fans, no such issues for them, they can charge what the hell they want and if locals don't buy them, foreign tourists will.
