October 10, 20241 yr Greece have played really well, fair play to them, but we've been woeful. All those disallowed goals correctly so but had it in our net four times. Good finish eventually though from Bellingham
October 10, 20241 yr Thanks England for being my Evatt respite tonight 😂 Edited October 10, 20241 yr by tomski
October 10, 20241 yr Please, please, please not Carsley as manager full time, that was just woeful. He even out Peps Pep for pissing about at the back. Greece showed how to do it, no arseing about just get the ball forward and strong powerful runs from midfield. With the players we had on show tonight we should have been doing that instead of the awful tippy tappy crap.

October 10, 20241 yr Pickford set the tone early on with his calamitous few minutes and the defending went downhill from there. Greece were up for it, played quickly, directly and well. Thoroughly deserved their win. Their second was like watching Huddersfield's third the other week.

I am sure that those who wanted the virtue signaller gone didn't want another FA automaton to replace him. We all know that this appointment is likely to lead nowhere. Once again, I hope he proves me wrong and conquers the world.

No striker, Palmer playing almost as a CDM TBF I was looking more at Foden, Bellingham and Gordon Regardless of performance, that's where they should be playing rather than the shoe horning exercise of the euros (I didn't watch the game so basing this entirely on paper)

What that ended up being on the pitch I have no idea. Some kind of weird 424 with a striker in midfield and midfielders up front.... It was like younger years management where you're giving the kids a chance in every position. Bizarre. My main criticism of Southgate was shoe horning players into random positions, but at least it would be a recognisable formation.
October 11, 20241 yr They were overwhelmed. I kept thinking 'they'll get a grip in a minute' but they just didn't. Bravo Greece who played very well. The defence was awful & clueless. Pickford has a mistake built into his DNA. Most concerning for me was Bellingham. A great player as we all know & a well hit goal, but he's believing his own hype now & needs to knuckle down. Constantly trying to run the match & whittering at the ref. He'll collect cards, both colours if he doesn't stop.

October 11, 20241 yr Greece have one of the best defensive units in Europe so rule 1 is not to let them score first otherwise you’ll be banging your head against a wall all night trying to get back into it and leaving space behind for breakaways. So regardless of technical ability etc what you don’t do is have only 2 arguably 3 of your ten outfield players who are defensively competent and defence-minded. But we did because it looks exciting on paper to pick a ton of attackers. It was so Bolton.
October 11, 20241 yr As someone who liked southgate and rolled eyes at the 'take the handbrake off' loudmouths, it was quite a nice evening. Plus the last 20 mins were quite fun to watch - I like Bellingham but that rockstar crowd arm waving thing is a bit cringe.
