England games

Greece have played really well, fair play to them, but we've been woeful. All those disallowed goals correctly so but had it in our net four times.

Good finish eventually though from Bellingham

  • And as for this tiresome bollocks about pathways in our last two tournaments, do people not realise theres a reason we got those pathways? We avoided groups of death becasue we won every single game i

  • Fuck me we lose one game without a full strength team against a team of shit houses who shithoused themselves half way through the last tournament and the knives are out. It was just one of them

  • Biggest cheers tonight were for the paper planes hitting the pitch. I’ve also learned that being close to Wembley as the crow flies means fuck all when it comes to the tube!   Anyway, 9th/10

They more than deserved that

Struth

There's been a winner, but for who Kammy?

Greece deserved it we was awful defending like us!

More Poundshop Pep noncery

Greece by far the better team in the end

Bring back Sir Gareth.

Please, please, please not Carsley as manager full time, that was just woeful. He even out Peps Pep for pissing about at the back. Greece showed how to do it, no arseing about just get the ball forward and strong powerful runs from midfield. With the players we had on show tonight we should have been doing that instead of the awful tippy tappy crap.

Greece started with that shit tonight but soon sorted it out

Ironic isn’t it, his doubters talked about him being too defensive, not letting the handbrake off, not enough attacking threat….. 🤣

Comical defending.

Pickford set the tone early on with his calamitous few minutes and the defending went downhill from there. Greece were up for it, played quickly, directly and well. Thoroughly deserved their win. Their second was like watching Huddersfield's third the other week.

Maybe.

Pep's done it before too.

Not great so far.

Not great at all really. I don't know enough about football tactics but to my untrained eye looked a little like a school team all running into the same areas of the pitch.

Not really ironic. I am sure that those who wanted the virtue signaller gone didn't want another FA automaton to replace him. We all know that this appointment is likely to lead nowhere.

Once again, I hope he proves me wrong and conquers the world.

I’m not sure they are!

Looks a bit misjointed to me. No striker, Palmer playing almost as a CDM

TBF I was looking more at Foden, Bellingham and Gordon

Regardless of performance, that's where they should be playing rather than the shoe horning exercise of the euros

(I didn't watch the game so basing this entirely on paper)

Good lineup

Everyone where they should be

Pre match I thought the same as you, looked like a 4231 as per the last 2 games with Palmer up front, proper wide players, Foden behind the striker and Bellingham and Rice centre midfield.

What that ended up being on the pitch I have no idea. Some kind of weird 424 with a striker in midfield and midfielders up front.... It was like younger years management where you're giving the kids a chance in every position. Bizarre.

My main criticism of Southgate was shoe horning players into random positions, but at least it would be a recognisable formation.

Has Foden had a good game for England yet?

They were overwhelmed. I kept thinking 'they'll get a grip in a minute' but they just didn't.  Bravo Greece who played very well.

The defence was awful & clueless. Pickford has a mistake built into his DNA.

Most concerning for me was Bellingham. A great player as we all know & a well hit goal, but he's believing his own hype now & needs to knuckle down. Constantly trying to run the match & whittering at the ref. He'll collect cards, both colours if he doesn't stop.

Not one.

42 caps and always somebody else's fault for him being shit for England

Greece have one of the best defensive units in Europe so rule 1 is not to let them score first otherwise you’ll be banging your head against a wall all night trying to get back into it and leaving space behind for breakaways.

So regardless of technical ability etc what you don’t do is have only 2 arguably 3 of your ten outfield players who are defensively competent and defence-minded.

But we did because it looks exciting on paper to pick a ton of attackers.
It was so Bolton.

As someone who liked southgate and rolled eyes at the 'take the handbrake off' loudmouths, it was quite a nice evening. Plus the last 20 mins were quite fun to watch - I like Bellingham but that rockstar crowd arm waving thing is a bit cringe.
